The Evening Bell of Shengji is one of the “Ten Scenic Spots of Mount Emei” in Sichuan Province. Shengji Temple was originally the largest temple at the entrance of Mount Emei. The bronze bell was originally hung on the Laobao Tower in the temple and was also known as the Shengji Bronze Bell.
In 1978, the bronze bell was moved to Fenghuang Fort opposite Baoguo Temple, and a pavilion was built to cover and maintain it. The towering green firs and cypresses on Fenghuang Fort, the solemn and elegant octagonal bell pavilion, and the ancient stele forest with more than a hundred inscribed tablets surrounding it all form an organic whole with the ancient and solemn bell, blending the beauty of nature and humanity.
