Wanshou Baxian Temple, also known as Baxian Temple, is located in Changlefang, Dongguan District, Xi'an. It partially occupies the site of the Tang Dynasty's Xingqing Palace and is a ten-direction monastery of the Quanzhen School of Taoism . It is the largest and most famous Taoist temple in Xi'an . According to folklore, Wanshou Baxian Temple is where Lü Dongbin of the Tang Dynasty met Han Zhongli, and his dream of enlightenment was finally resolved through a single thought: " A single dream, a yellow beam of rice . "

Wanshou Baxian Temple is the most complete surviving Taoist temple in Xi'an. In the 26th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, the Eight-Nation Alliance invaded Beijing. Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu sought refuge in Xi'an and stayed at Baxian Temple. They donated silver for renovations and bestowed the temple with the inscription " Imperially Built Wanshou Baxian Temple , " hence its name.
