Nankai University (NKU), abbreviated as "Nankai," is directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and is a vice-ministerial institution directly under the central government. It is among the first batch of universities selected for the "211 Project," the "985 Project," and other programs designed to promote world-class universities and first-class disciplines. Founded in 1904 by Yan Xiu and Zhang Boling, who embraced the philosophy of saving the nation through education, Nankai University was officially established in 1919.
Nankai University has 26 professional colleges, covering disciplines such as literature, history, philosophy, economics, management, law, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, education, and the arts, offering 86 undergraduate majors. In the latest round of teaching evaluations, 35 of Nankai University's first-level disciplines participated in the fourth round of national disciplinary assessments, with five disciplines ranking in the top 5%, 14 in the top 10%, 23 in the top 20%, and 29 in the top 30%. Nankai University's campus is a "one campus, three campuses" layout, with the Balitai Campus in the west, the Jinnan Campus in the middle, and the TEDA Campus in the east. This mutually supportive and interactive layout covers a total area of 4.4519 million square meters.
