Tianjin Panshan Scenic Area is located in Ji County, Tianjin. Because it is located in the east of Beijing, it is known as the "No. 1 Mountain in the East of Beijing". In the early years of the Republic of China, Panshan was listed as one of the fifteen major scenic spots in China along with Mount Tai, West Lake, and the Forbidden City.
Panshan Scenic Area boasts a diverse flora and fauna, a favorable ecological environment, and serves as a natural oxygen bar. The vertical joints in the rock formations, characterized by typical "spheroidal weathering," create a unique landscape of towering peaks and jagged rocks. The area boasts 72 temples, 13 pagodas, numerous palaces, and pavilions, making it a popular Buddhist sanctuary during the Ming and Qing dynasties. To admire the scenery of the mountain villa, the Qing emperors expended enormous sums annually, incorporating traditional Chinese gardening techniques and integrating the essence of northern and southern garden art to transform Jingji Mountain Villa into a magnificent, beautiful, and elegant imperial garden.

Three Plates of Dusk Rain
"Sanpan Dusk Rain," one of Tianjin's Ten Scenic Spots, refers to Panshan. "Sanpan" refers to Panshan's "Three Pans Scenic Spots," while "Dusk Rain" refers to the evening clouds. Every March, Panshan's peach, apricot, and pear blossoms blanket the mountains, creating a scene of "the east wind blows over the ridges, blanketing the ground in a blanket of snow." The spring breeze brings petals drifting down like a thousand petal raindrops. In midsummer, at dusk, after the rain, clouds and mist drift across the mountain, creating a scene that seems neither clear nor rainy, hence the name "Sanpan Dusk Rain."

As visitors enter the mountain gate and reach the "Rusheng" scenic spot, they are greeted by inscriptions on the walls. "Rusheng" was written by Ronglu, a high-ranking military minister and governor-general of Zhili during the late Qing Dynasty. "Rusheng" implies entering a Buddhist sanctuary. It derives from the ancient poem, "Lavish mountains lead into a wondrous landscape, the sound of a stream echoes softly in the empty valley."
Tiancheng Temple
Formerly known as Fushan Temple, also known as "Heavenly Dharma Realm," it is a key scenic spot in the Panshan Scenic Area. Located within Tiancheng Temple is the Jiangshan Yilan Pavilion, bearing the inscription "Jiangshan Yilan" written by Emperor Qianlong. Facing the stream and backed by rocks, the pavilion boasts five bays, carved beams, and painted rafters, creating an exquisite and unique experience. Behind Tiancheng Temple rises a peak, Cuiping Peak, beneath which an ancient pagoda looms. In front of the pagoda stands a cedar, as old as the pagoda itself, flanked by two tall, majestic ginkgo trees, creating a picturesque scene.
