Hongxing Wetland, located in Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province, is a national forest reserve with rich forest resources and numerous wild animals. There are 5 and 37 species of national first- and second-class protected animals respectively, as well as 511 species of wild plants. It is also a typical representative of the northern forest wetland ecosystem.
The Red Star Wetland Reserve has rich mountain landscapes, water landscapes, and biological landscapes, which have laid the foundation for the development of tourism. The area not only has virgin forests , swamp meadows, lakes, streams, and rivers, but also has unique ice and snow landscapes.
The Red Star Wetland has four distinct seasons. Spring is April and May, summer is June, July and August, autumn is September and October, and winter is November to March.
The four seasons are short, with fluctuating temperatures, rapid temperature rises and falls, and frequent strong winds; summer is hot and humid with frequent rain; winter is cold and long with frequent snowfall.

Night visits and light shows are not available at Red Star Wetland. The area is best explored during daylight hours to fully appreciate its natural beauty.
