Persimmon Forest Village, located southeast of Dalan Town , Yuyao, is 50 kilometers from downtown Yuyao and 60 kilometers from downtown Ningbo. The village is named for its abundance of " Diaohong " persimmons. Surrounded by mountains, the village boasts lush bamboo forests, gurgling springs, and the fragrance of birdsong and flowers. The scenery is not only beautiful but also pristine, with the original mountain dwellings well-preserved.

Persimmon trees are the most common in the village, dotted everywhere, inside and outside the village, in front of and behind houses. The village produces over 200,000 kilograms of persimmons annually. In late autumn, red persimmons hang from branches inside and outside the village, on the hillsides, like countless small red lanterns. The fiery red maples and green trees in the dense forest create a beautiful autumn scene.

Shilin has a long-standing tradition of revering education, with words like " farming and studying to pass on the family tradition " still faintly visible on the walls and gates of surviving Ming and Qing dynasty buildings . In the Shen Clan Ancestral Hall at the entrance to the village, plaques such as " A Family of Literary Sustainability " and " A Family of Honored Chastity and Filial Piety " —a mark of pride for the people of Shilin—hang , honoring villagers from past generations.
