Legend has it that long ago, a Yao village lived on Yaoren Mountain. Relying on the high mountains and dense forests, the Yao people made their living by hunting and gathering herbs. Later, due to the prevalence of ferocious beasts, the Yao people were often harmed and had to migrate elsewhere. Shui folk songs often use the name of Yaoren Mountain to symbolize the mystery and unattainability of things.
