Parking near the arch park

We will be traveling thru St Louis instead of staying the night early April, is there parking mid week in the afternoon near the Arch?

Parking near the Gateway Arch in St. Louis is generally convenient, especially for a mid-week afternoon visit in early April. Since you won’t be staying overnight, you’ll mainly be looking at short-term visitor parking options.

Here’s what to expect and some options:

  • Gateway Arch Parking Garage: Located directly under the Arch, this is the most convenient option. It has hundreds of spaces and offers hourly rates. You can park here and walk directly to the Arch grounds, tram, and visitor center.
  • Old Courthouse Parking: A smaller lot near the Arch and Old Courthouse. Good for short visits, but fewer spaces, so arrive early in case of limited availability.
  • Street Parking: Metered parking is available around the downtown riverfront area. Mid-week afternoons generally have spots available, but check signage for time limits and rates.
  • Nearby Commercial Garages: Several downtown parking garages are within a 5–10 minute walk, including those along Market Street or near Laclede’s Landing. These may offer slightly lower rates or more availability if the Arch garage is full.

Additional tips:

  • Rates: Expect hourly rates ranging from around $2–$5 per hour, with a daily maximum in some garages. The Arch garage may be slightly higher but is the most convenient.
  • Availability: Early April is before peak tourist season, so parking mid-week should be relatively easy. Busier times include weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Accessibility: All major garages and lots near the Arch have accessible parking spots close to entrances.

In summary, for a mid-week afternoon visit to the Arch, parking is not likely to be an issue. The Gateway Arch Parking Garage is the most convenient choice, but there are additional nearby garages and metered street parking if needed.
