Kaufman stadium hotels
We are heading to KC for a baseball game in June. Will be there for a couple nights. Any suggestions on where to stay we would like to be able to walk to restaurants/etc. also any suggestions on things to do?
If you're visiting Kansas City for a baseball game at Kauffman Stadium and want to stay within walking distance of restaurants and attractions, the Crown Center area and nearby neighborhoods are ideal. Staying close to the Power & Light District is another option, though it is slightly farther from the stadium.
Recommended hotel areas and options:
- Crown Center: Conveniently located near Union Station and within a short drive to Kauffman Stadium. Hotels here often offer walking access to restaurants and shops.
- Power & Light District: A lively area with plenty of dining, bars, and entertainment options. About a 10-15 minute drive to the stadium, but very walkable for nightlife.
- Hotels to consider:
- Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center – classic downtown option with easy access to restaurants and Union Station.
- 21c Museum Hotel Kansas City – boutique hotel in downtown with unique art displays and nearby dining.
- Hyatt Regency Kansas City – central location, connected to the skywalk system and close to the Power & Light District.
Things to do in Kansas City besides the baseball game:
- Explore Union Station: Science exhibits, restaurants, and occasional events make it a great spot for families or couples.
- Visit the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art: Known for its impressive outdoor sculpture park and world-class collections.
- Walk the Country Club Plaza: Beautiful Spanish-style architecture, boutique shops, and dining options.
- Try local BBQ: Kansas City is famous for its barbecue; some favorites include Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que, Q39, and Gates Bar-B-Q.
- Power & Light District: Evening entertainment, bars, and live music options.
- KC Streetcar: Free downtown streetcar service connecting attractions, restaurants, and hotels.
For baseball weekends, it’s wise to book your hotel well in advance, as both Crown Center and downtown options can fill up quickly. Parking near Kauffman Stadium is available, but staying in a central area with access to a short drive or rideshare will make your visit easier.
