September Couple’s Trip

My husband and I are flying into and out of Traverse City Sept7-14. We are needing suggestions for our itinerary. We arrive at TVC mid morning and will be renting a car and traveling towards Mackinaw island where we have bookings for two nights (8-10). We would like to take the scenic routes such as tunnel of trees, Sleeping Bear dunes, winery or brewery trail, etc. as much as possible. What would you suggest as the best plan for scenic routes for the one day/night (7-8) and the four nights following Mackingnaw island (10-14) returning to TVC for our afternoon flight on the 14th? Chateau Chantel Winery/inn looks inviting. Two nights there? We are healthy retirees and love the outdoors (can hike easy ( less than 4 miles) trails if a “must see” site. This is our first trip to Michigan so any suggestions are greatly. appreciated.
