Mercedes Benz Stadium for Stones concert
Coming into ATL for the Stones concert on June 7th. Staying at the Hampton on Ted Turner Drive. We want to walk to the stadium and we are just wondering about the safety walkng home later at night. Do we need to be worried? Going to eat at the Montana Grill on the way there, so hoping that is a good stop over on our walk. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Attending a concert at Mercedes-Benz Stadium is an exciting experience, and staying at the Hampton Inn on Ted Turner Drive puts you in a good location to walk to the venue. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the stadium, which is very doable. However, like any major city, there are a few safety considerations to keep in mind, especially when walking late at night.
In general, downtown Atlanta has seen improvements in safety, but it’s always good to be cautious when walking late, particularly around the stadium area. The streets near the stadium are typically busy before and after events, so it’s a well-trafficked area, which can add a sense of safety. However, once the crowd disperses, some parts of the area can feel less busy and might have lower foot traffic, especially late at night.
Here are some tips and things to consider for your walk:
- Walking to the Stadium: The walk from the Hampton Inn to Mercedes-Benz Stadium is straightforward and on well-lit streets, making it a decent choice for getting to the concert. The Montana Grill is located along the way, so it’s a good stopping point for dinner, and it’s located in a safer area with other dining options nearby. Many people walk in groups to the stadium, so it’s likely you’ll have company on the way.
- Safety Walking Back: After the concert, walking back to the hotel is generally safe, but as with any urban area, exercise caution. It’s best to stick to well-lit streets and avoid any alleyways or poorly lit areas. The closer you are to the stadium, the busier it will be with concert-goers, so try to stay in the crowd on your way back.
- Nighttime Precautions: While the area around Mercedes-Benz Stadium is relatively safe, it's always a good idea to stay aware of your surroundings. If you’re walking back late, it may be safer to take a well-lit main road and avoid quieter side streets. You could also consider using a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft for peace of mind, especially if it’s very late or if you don’t want to deal with the walk after a long concert.
- Other Dining Options: Montana Grill is a good stop, but there are other great places around the area as well. You could also check out restaurants like The Spence (if you’re interested in upscale dining) or Wahlburgers for something more casual.
Overall, the walk to and from Mercedes-Benz Stadium is doable, and many people do it every day. If you’re cautious and stay in well-lit, busy areas, you should be fine. If you’re ever in doubt, consider using a rideshare service for the trip back to your hotel. Enjoy the concert!
