Drive time and worth it?

I’ve always stayed in Branson but this year I was possibly wanting to stay in Kimberling City. Does anyone know what the length of the actual drive back and forth to branson strip is? Is it worth it to stay right on the lake in a beautiful condo but having to drive that when wanting to go to the strip? Thank you in advance

Staying in Kimberling City can be a lovely experience, especially if you’re looking for a peaceful lakefront setting with beautiful condos and a more relaxed atmosphere than the busy Branson Strip. However, there are a few factors to consider regarding the drive to Branson for shows, dining, and attractions.

Drive Time: The distance from Kimberling City to Branson’s Strip is roughly 15–18 miles depending on the route you take. In terms of time:

  • Off-peak, the drive typically takes about 25–30 minutes one-way.
  • During busy times, such as Friday or Saturday evenings when shows are starting, it can take closer to 35–45 minutes due to traffic, especially near Branson Landing and popular intersections.
  • Keep in mind that if you’re planning to go to multiple shows in a single evening or want to walk around the Strip, the drive back and forth adds up.

Is it worth it? It depends on your priorities:

  • If you value a quiet, scenic stay with lake access, morning walks, and a more private setting, Kimberling City is a great choice. You can enjoy the lakefront and perhaps even take a boat out during the day.
  • If the primary purpose of your trip is to be immersed in Branson’s entertainment, shows, and nightlife, staying closer to the Strip can reduce travel time and make spontaneous plans easier.
  • Another compromise is to stay one night on the Strip for show-heavy evenings and the rest of your trip in Kimberling City for a mix of relaxation and sightseeing around Table Rock Lake.

Overall, if you’re fine with a 25–45 minute drive each way and are planning mainly daytime lake activities with one or two show evenings, Kimberling City can be a very pleasant base. If you anticipate going out frequently in the evenings, staying on the Strip might be more convenient.
