Savannah for 4 nights

I am looking for recommendations on staying at the the Marriott Riverfront Hotel or the Marriott Alida Hotel. 4 nights, first time, my husband and I.

Both the Marriott Riverfront Hotel and the Marriott Alida Hotel are excellent options for a stay in Savannah, each offering its own unique experience. Since this is your first time in Savannah and you’ll be there for 4 nights, I’ll provide you with some insights to help you decide between the two.

The Marriott Riverfront Hotel is located right along the Savannah River, which offers stunning views and a prime location. You’ll be steps away from River Street, which is full of shops, restaurants, and bars. The hotel also provides easy access to many of Savannah’s iconic historic sites, such as the waterfront, the shops on River Street, and the historic district. If you want to be in the heart of Savannah’s bustling waterfront area, this is a great choice.

  • Pros of Marriott Riverfront:
    • River views and easy access to River Street.
    • Close proximity to popular attractions like the Savannah History Museum, the Cotton Exchange, and the City Market area.
    • Offers a more traditional Savannah riverfront hotel experience.
  • Cons of Marriott Riverfront:
    • Can be busy and crowded, especially on weekends, due to its prime location.
    • Some rooms may feel a bit more dated compared to newer hotels in the area.

The Marriott Alida Hotel, on the other hand, is a newer, boutique-style hotel located in the trendy Starland District. It offers a more modern and upscale experience with chic design, rooftop bar views, and a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere compared to the Riverfront hotel. If you’re looking for a more stylish, peaceful environment but still want to be close to everything, the Alida is a great choice. It’s a short drive or a 10-15 minute walk from the Riverfront and the Historic District, but offers a more local, less touristy vibe.

  • Pros of Marriott Alida:
    • Stylish and modern boutique hotel with chic design.
    • Rooftop bar with great views and a more intimate atmosphere.
    • Located in the quieter, artsy Starland District, but still close to the historic district.
    • More peaceful ambiance compared to the busier Riverfront area.
  • Cons of Marriott Alida:
    • Not directly on the river or as close to River Street and some of the major tourist attractions.
    • A bit more secluded from the bustling tourist area, which could be either a pro or a con depending on your preferences.

If you want to be right on the river and close to the action of River Street, the Marriott Riverfront would be a solid choice. However, if you’re looking for a more relaxed and stylish atmosphere, and don’t mind a slightly quieter, more local vibe, the Marriott Alida is a great option. Both hotels offer high-quality service, but the Marriott Alida’s boutique charm and proximity to local art, coffee shops, and restaurants might appeal to those looking for a more intimate experience in Savannah.
