Savannah with 7 adults and 3 toddlers

Hello! Heading to Savannah for my sister’s 40th. We have an AirBnb in a walkable location to downtown. We have 7 adults ranged mid-30s to mid-60s and 3 kids (two almost 2 year olds and an almost 4 year old). Looking for some activities/restaurants to enjoy the trip! Here are a couple of interests so far:

Day at Tybee Island to enjoy the beach (hopefully the weather is good?)

Spa for the ladies

Activities/locations in Savannah for kids

Good restaurants and one special restaurant for 40th birthday dinner

Cooking class/chef who comes to AirBnb

Tours that the whole crowd will enjoy (some already did the cemetery tour)

Boat rentals (is this a thing?)

Thank you in advance!!

What a wonderful way to celebrate your sister’s 40th birthday! Savannah is an amazing city with something for everyone—whether you're with a group of adults or toddlers. Below are some ideas for your trip that should suit your family’s wide range of interests:

1. Day at Tybee Island

Tybee Island is a great spot for a day trip! Even in early spring, the beach can be beautiful for a relaxing day with the kids. If the weather is nice, they’ll love playing in the sand, and the adults can enjoy the coastal views. You can also check out the Tybee Island Marine Science Center, which has interactive exhibits that both adults and children will find fun. It’s a short drive from Savannah, and you can either drive yourself or take a shuttle service from the city.

2. Spa Day for the Ladies

For a relaxing spa experience, consider booking treatments at:

  • The Salt Table – A peaceful spot offering a variety of spa services like massages and facials, perfect for some downtime.
  • HydraFacial at The Spa at the Mansion on Forsyth Park – A luxurious option for a soothing experience, with everything from massages to skin treatments.
  • Savannah Day Spa – Known for excellent facials and body treatments, this spot is great for some pampering during your trip.

3. Activities for Kids

Since you’ll have young children, you’ll want to make sure to keep them entertained with kid-friendly activities. Here are some great options:

  • Forsyth Park – The playground here is fantastic for little ones, with a large open space for running around and swings.
  • The Georgia State Railroad Museum – Kids will love the trains here! It's a hands-on museum with exhibits that let children climb aboard trains.
  • SCAD Museum of Art – While the art museum may seem more adult-focused, they often have interactive displays and kid-friendly programs.
  • Oatland Island Wildlife Center – Just a short drive from Savannah, this wildlife center features a variety of animals that your kids will love to see up close.

4. Restaurants for Your Group

Savannah has a wealth of great restaurants that will please your whole group, including some family-friendly and more upscale options. Here are a few suggestions:

  • The Collins Quarter – Great for brunch or lunch. This cafe serves a blend of American and Australian-inspired dishes, with a relaxed yet stylish vibe.
  • Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room – If you’re in the mood for Southern comfort food, this is a must-try. It’s a family-style restaurant with classic dishes like fried chicken, collard greens, and cornbread.
  • Alligator Soul – For something a little fancier and special, this place serves amazing Southern cuisine in an intimate atmosphere. Perfect for the birthday dinner!
  • The Grey – For a memorable, upscale dining experience, consider making a reservation at The Grey, located in a restored Greyhound bus station. It’s elegant and delicious, offering modern Southern fare.

5. Special 40th Birthday Dinner

For your sister’s 40th, I recommend going all out at a special restaurant. Here are a few options:

  • The Grey – As mentioned, this is a highly recommended fine dining restaurant with excellent service and an unforgettable atmosphere.
  • Leopold’s Ice Cream – If you want a lighter but fun birthday celebration, head here for some nostalgic ice cream, and make it a unique experience for the family!
  • The Olde Pink House – Known for its beautiful historic setting, this is one of Savannah’s oldest and most famous restaurants. The food and ambiance will provide a memorable birthday dinner.

6. Cooking Class or Chef at Your AirBnb

For a special experience, consider booking a private chef who can cook a Southern-inspired meal for your group at the AirBnb. You can also look into cooking classes that will give you a hands-on experience in preparing classic Savannah dishes. Some companies even offer classes that come to your rental, so you can enjoy a fun cooking experience in the comfort of your home away from home.

7. Tours for the Whole Group

Since you’ve already done the cemetery tour, here are some other fun and unique tours that can be enjoyed by both adults and kids:

  • Old Savannah Tours – These trolley tours are perfect for large groups and provide a great way to explore the historic district in a comfortable setting. You’ll get to learn all about the city’s history while also seeing the sights.
  • Ghost Tours – Savannah is known for its haunted history, so a spooky ghost tour could be a fun way for the adults to explore the city after the kids go to bed!
  • Hop-On, Hop-Off Tour – If you want to take in more sights at your own pace, the hop-on, hop-off tours are great for families, as they allow you to explore Savannah’s top attractions and get off at your leisure.

8. Boat Rentals

If you’re interested in being on the water, consider renting a boat or taking a river cruise. Several companies offer boat rentals for leisurely trips along the Savannah River or even private charters. Some places that offer boat rentals include:

  • Savannah Riverboat Cruises – They offer scenic cruises along the Savannah River, which could be a fun and relaxing way to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
  • Bull River Marina – They offer kayak, paddleboard, and boat rentals, great for exploring the local waterways.

With such a large group, Savannah is sure to offer something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for some relaxation, an exciting activity, or a memorable birthday celebration, the city has a variety of options to make your trip special!
