Early morning Uber/Lyft?

For an early morning flight, is Lyft/Uber usually easily available to get from Georgia Tech area to the airport by 6 a.m. (Tuesday morning)?

For now the plan is MARTA, but just in case, want to know our options.

Yes, Uber and Lyft are typically available in the Georgia Tech area early in the morning, including by 6 a.m. on a Tuesday. While availability can vary based on factors such as demand and time of day, both rideshare services operate 24/7, and you're likely to find drivers in the area, especially since Georgia Tech is centrally located in Atlanta. However, during early morning hours, there may be fewer drivers on the road, so it could be helpful to plan ahead by scheduling your ride in advance using the app to secure your transportation.

  • Scheduling your ride: Both Uber and Lyft allow you to schedule rides in advance, which can be a good idea for peace of mind. Scheduling your ride the night before ensures that you have a driver lined up at the requested time, reducing the chance of delays.
  • Cost: Expect rides from Georgia Tech to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to cost between $20–$40, depending on the rideshare option (UberX, Lyft Standard, etc.) and traffic conditions.
  • Alternative options: If you prefer a more predictable option, MARTA is a reliable and affordable public transportation choice. The MARTA station at Georgia Tech is located on the Blue Line, which connects directly to the airport. Trains typically run every 15 minutes in the early morning, and the trip to the airport takes about 30–40 minutes.

If you are in a hurry or just prefer the convenience of a door-to-door service, rideshare is a good backup option. However, MARTA can be a reliable and cost-effective choice if you're looking for an alternative.

Whichever option you choose, just be sure to give yourself plenty of time for traffic or potential delays, especially during rush hour. Safe travels!
