Hotels with check in under 21

My daughter and her fiancé are getting married in October. He's on leave from the navy, they are going two nights in Branson, but they are 19. I can’t find anywhere that will let them check in unless they are 21. Does anyone know of hotel that will let them check in?

In Branson, like many U.S. cities, most hotels have a minimum check-in age of 21. This policy is generally due to liability and licensing reasons. However, there are exceptions, especially for active military members or if the reservation is prepaid and the guests can provide a valid credit card and identification. Since your daughter’s fiancé is on leave from the Navy, some hotels may consider military service as an exception.

Here are some strategies and potential options for 19-year-olds checking in:

  • Call hotels directly: Many national chains have a 21+ policy, but some independent or smaller hotels may allow check-in at 18 with valid ID and credit card. Always call ahead and explain the situation.
  • Extended stay or suite-style hotels: Places like Comfort Inn, Best Western, or La Quinta often allow 18+ check-in, especially if the reservation is prepaid and the military ID is presented.
  • Military-friendly hotels: Some hotels honor military status and may allow the 19-year-old to check in if he shows valid military ID.
  • Vacation rentals: Airbnb, Vrbo, or local condos may be more flexible with age restrictions as long as the booking is confirmed and payment is completed online. Ensure the host approves the reservation for under-21 guests.
  • Hostels or small inns: Some boutique inns or guesthouses in Branson may allow 18+ check-in, but this is rare and requires contacting them directly.

Tips for a smooth experience:

  • Always have a valid government-issued ID and credit card in the guest’s name.
  • Explain the situation to the front desk before booking; some hotels may make exceptions for military personnel.
  • Consider prepaid bookings or vacation rentals, which often have more flexible age policies.

In summary, while most hotels in Branson require guests to be 21, calling ahead, highlighting military service, and considering vacation rentals or smaller inns may allow your daughter and her fiancé to check in at 19 without issues.
