Top of Rock Christmas for an evening or other?
Hello. I will be traveling with family group of 16 including two children, in Dec. I’m looking for entertainment for an evening. We are very focused on the children this trip. Can someone with Top of Rock experience give me info on the Christmas light tram ride? Is there a casual restaurant at the same location? Is the ice skating at same location? Ideally I wish we could drive to one location and be entertained for the evening. Our second evening we will do Branson Landing with the train. Looking for something different than SDC this time. Thank you for any suggestions.
Top of the Rock in Branson is a great option for a family-focused evening in December, especially with children. The location combines beautiful scenic views, a Christmas-themed experience, and some dining options that make it possible to enjoy a full evening at one location.
Christmas Light Tram Ride:
- The Christmas light tram ride is part of the holiday experience at Top of the Rock. It typically runs in the evenings during December and showcases the property’s extensive Christmas decorations, including lights throughout the golf course, gardens, and along the trails.
- The tram is guided, often with narration or music, and is suitable for all ages, making it a hit with children and adults alike.
- Reservations are recommended for groups, especially during weekends or the holiday season, as it can get busy.
Casual Dining Options:
- Top of the Rock offers a casual restaurant on-site called The Main Lodge Restaurant, which provides a family-friendly atmosphere with a mix of American cuisine, sandwiches, and entrees. It’s perfect for an early dinner or after the tram ride.
- There is also a snack and beverage area near the entrance for quick bites and refreshments if you prefer to keep it casual.
Ice Skating:
- Top of the Rock does not have an ice skating rink on-site. Ice skating in Branson is usually available at Branson Landing or select hotels and seasonal pop-up rinks.
- If ice skating is a priority, you may want to plan that for a separate evening and combine it with your visit to Branson Landing or a different location.
Other Activities at Top of the Rock:
- Scenic overlook: Stunning panoramic views of Table Rock Lake and the Ozarks, especially at sunset or twilight, which can be combined with your tram ride.
- Golf cart or walking trails: Some areas allow short walks or exploration around the decorated property.
- Gift shops and small exhibits: Great for browsing for souvenirs or a quick family activity before or after the tram ride.
In summary, Top of the Rock provides a convenient one-location evening with the Christmas tram ride and casual dining, but ice skating is not available there. For your family of 16 with children, it’s ideal to enjoy the tram ride, dinner at the Main Lodge, and the scenic views all in one visit, then plan your second evening at Branson Landing for the train and potentially ice skating or other activities.
