Hi Atlanta experts. My wife and I are flying into Atlanta at 10:30 PM and staying downtown at the Hampton Inn and Suites on Ted Turner Dr. We are contemplating on taking MARTA to the Peachtree Station which is a short walk to the hotel. Given the late hour (~11:30 PM?) , is it safe to walk to the hotel? Seems silly to take an Uber for 3 short blocks. Your advice is greatly appreciated
Hi there!
It's great that you're staying downtown and considering walking from Peachtree Station to the Hampton Inn. While downtown Atlanta has a lot of great spots to explore, it's important to consider safety, especially at night.
In general, downtown Atlanta has areas that are fairly safe, but like many urban areas, there can be spots that are less well-lit or have lower foot traffic late at night. The area around the Hampton Inn on Ted Turner Dr is typically considered safe, but here are a few things to keep in mind:
Overall safety: While downtown is generally safe, I would recommend using your judgment based on how you feel. If you're comfortable with the walk and the area seems well-lit and busy enough, you should be fine. However, if it feels uncomfortable or you just prefer the convenience, taking an Uber is a quick and safe option, especially if you're arriving late at night.
I hope that helps, and I wish you a safe and enjoyable trip to Atlanta!
