Public Pool Downtown or Close

Hi,

I will be attending a conference in Feb and am looking for an indoor pool to do laps. Any ideas? Thanks!

There are a few options for indoor pools near downtown Atlanta that would be perfect for lap swimming during your conference. Here are some suggestions for places where you can get some laps in:

1. Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center

Located just a short distance from downtown, the Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center has an indoor pool that is open to the public for a daily fee. It's a great place for lap swimming, and it’s typically not too crowded. It’s about a 5-10 minute drive from downtown Atlanta, and they offer both recreational and lap swimming lanes.

2. The Aquatic Center at the Atlanta BeltLine

The Aquatic Center, part of the BeltLine’s recreation facilities, is another excellent option for lap swimming. It features a 25-yard indoor pool, and it’s centrally located in the city, making it a convenient option if you're staying near the downtown area. You can usually get day passes, and it's known for being well-maintained.

3. Midtown YMCA

The Midtown YMCA, located a bit north of downtown, has an indoor pool and is also a popular choice for lap swimmers. They offer day passes, so you don’t need to be a member to swim. The YMCA has regular lap swim hours, and you can check their schedule for specific times.

4. Emory University Fitness Center

Emory University’s Student Activity and Recreation Center (SARC) is another great spot for lap swimming. The center has an indoor pool, and they offer day passes to the public for a fee. Although it’s a bit further from downtown (about a 15-minute drive), it’s a well-maintained facility with plenty of swim lanes for lap swimming.

5. West End Pool at the Rosel Fann Recreation Center

Located a bit farther south of downtown, the Rosel Fann Recreation Center’s West End Pool offers indoor swimming options. It’s a public facility that’s open to everyone, and it’s a great spot if you’re looking for a quiet place to do laps. You can check their schedule for lap swim hours to make sure the pool is available during your visit.

6. Olympic Aquatic Center

Located within the Georgia State University’s Sports Complex, the Olympic Aquatic Center offers an indoor pool with multiple lanes for lap swimming. It is open to the public for a fee, and it’s an excellent option for getting in a serious swim workout. It’s about a 10-minute drive from downtown.

All of these options are within reasonable distance from downtown Atlanta, and most have flexible schedules for lap swimming. Be sure to check the specific websites or call ahead to confirm hours of operation and availability for lap swimming. Enjoy your conference and your swim sessions!
