Taxi from Rockport to Boston airport cost seems expensive?

Hello,

We will be staying in Rockport in August and need to get to the airport in the early hours.

I have seen a transfer company and they estimate this trip will be £170 ( one way). Is this correct?it seems quite expensive?

Can anyone recommend a transfer / taxi company?

Thank you in advance!

Taking a taxi or transfer service from Rockport to Boston Logan Airport is indeed a long-distance trip, and the price you’ve mentioned, £170, seems a bit on the high side, but it could be correct depending on the service provider, especially if they are offering private transfers. The drive from Rockport to Boston Logan Airport typically takes around 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic. However, the price can vary based on factors like time of day, the type of vehicle, and whether it’s a private or shared transfer.

Here are some options to consider for getting from Rockport to Logan Airport:

  • Private Transfers: Many transfer companies offer private rides, and these are typically more expensive, especially if you're booking for early morning or late-night hours. Prices generally range from $120 to $180 USD, depending on the service and vehicle type.
  • Shared Shuttle Services: Shared shuttle services can be more affordable, typically ranging from $50 to $80 per person. These shuttles will make multiple stops along the way and might take a bit longer, but they are a more cost-effective option if you're not in a rush.
  • Taxi or Ride Share: You can also use a taxi or a ride-sharing service like Uber or Lyft. The fare for a taxi from Rockport to Logan is usually around $120 to $150, depending on traffic. Uber or Lyft prices can fluctuate based on demand, but expect to pay somewhere in the same range.

Some transfer/taxi services to consider:

  • North Shore Shuttle – Offers shared and private transfer options from Rockport and surrounding areas to Boston Logan Airport. They have competitive pricing, especially for shared rides.
  • Boston Coach – Offers private luxury transfer services. They are generally more expensive but provide high-end service for airport transfers.
  • Uber/Lyft – If you’re comfortable using a ride-sharing app, both Uber and Lyft operate in the area. You can check the fare estimate via the apps beforehand to see if it fits your budget.
  • Rockport Taxi – Local taxis in Rockport may also provide direct transfers to the airport. It’s always worth calling ahead for a quote, especially if you need a taxi during off-hours.

While £170 (or about $220 USD) might be on the high side for a private transfer, if you're looking for the convenience of a door-to-door, private service, this could be the rate you’re quoted by some companies, especially for early morning trips. It’s worth comparing prices across a few providers before you book.

Make sure to book in advance, especially for early morning airport transfers, as these services can fill up quickly. If you’re looking for a more affordable option, consider the shared shuttles or ride-sharing services, which may offer the flexibility and cost-efficiency you’re looking for.

Safe travels!
