Maui Wedding - September 2026

We are wanting a very simple beach wedding with around 20 guests. Cost is a factor particularly with the high cost of food and accommodation on Maui. Ideally we would like to stay (with our guests also) at a condo block on the beach, have the ceremony there, and then cook our own steak, salmon etc on a communal BBQ at the resort itself. We would use a wedding planner for the actual ceremony.

Can anyone recommend a condo resort which is reasonably priced, which would also allow us to host a very low key reception after the ceremony. Ideally not in or around Kihei but we are open to all suggestions.

Aloha and congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Maui is a beautiful place for a beach wedding, and it sounds like you're aiming for a simple yet memorable celebration. I understand that costs can add up quickly, so looking for a reasonably priced condo resort with beach access and the flexibility to host a reception is a smart approach. Here are some suggestions for condo resorts that might work well for your wedding and reception needs:

  • Napili Shores Maui by Outrigger – Located on the beautiful Napili Bay, this condo resort offers affordable rates and stunning ocean views. The location has direct beach access, and many of the units have kitchen facilities, so you can cook your own meals. They also have BBQ grills available for guests to use, making it an ideal setting for a low-key reception. It's a quieter area compared to places like Kihei, and the resort is known for its friendly atmosphere.
  • Makena Surf, A Destination Residence – This resort is located in the Makena area, offering spacious condos right on the beach. It’s a bit more secluded than Kihei and offers a tranquil setting for a wedding. The resort has BBQ grills available for guest use, and while they don’t provide event spaces, you can host a simple, low-key reception on the beach or in a common area. The area is perfect for small weddings, and the beaches nearby are beautiful.
  • Kamaole Sands – While it’s located in Kihei, Kamaole Sands offers affordable one- and two-bedroom condos with kitchenettes, and it’s right across the street from Kamaole Beach Park. The resort has BBQ grills for guest use, and it’s a family-friendly location with plenty of green space that could work for a casual reception. If you're open to being in Kihei, this could be a budget-friendly option with a central location, close to restaurants, shopping, and activities.
  • Hale Kamaole – Another option in Kihei, Hale Kamaole is a smaller, more intimate condo complex right across from Kamaole Beach Park III. The property has BBQs for guest use, making it perfect for a casual reception with family and friends. The grounds are beautiful and easy to navigate, and you can host a simple wedding and reception with ease. While the location is near Kihei, it’s much quieter than the resorts in the area, making it ideal for a peaceful gathering.
  • The Gardens at West Maui – Located on the north shore of Maui near Kapalua, this smaller, less crowded property offers a more affordable option for those looking to avoid the higher prices of resorts in popular areas like Wailea or Lahaina. The condos here are equipped with kitchens and have access to BBQ grills, and the beach is just a short walk away. While the resort doesn’t offer event spaces, the area around the resort is perfect for a small ceremony and reception.

These condos all offer a great combination of beach access, kitchen facilities, and BBQ grills, allowing you to keep costs low while enjoying the beauty of Maui. Most of them are in quieter areas outside of Kihei, giving you a more private and relaxed setting for your ceremony and reception.

For your wedding planner, you might want to check with local planners to ensure they are familiar with these resorts and can help organize the ceremony and reception in the relaxed, low-key style you're envisioning. Many Maui planners specialize in small, intimate weddings, and they will be able to suggest the best locations for your ceremony on the beach and assist with any permits or logistics you may need to consider.

Overall, any of these options could work for a simple, affordable wedding and reception. Be sure to check with the individual resorts to confirm availability, costs, and whether they allow events like a wedding reception. Best of luck in your wedding planning, and enjoy your time on Maui!
