Saturday farmers markets
We are arriving on a Friday for a week stay in Kapa’a (first visit). Saturday we’d like to stop at a farmers market (or two) to get some items for the condo (fruit, baked goods, flowers). There appear to be a few options on Saturdays. Any favorites? These are the ones I’m aware of. Did I miss any?
Kauai Community market
Grove Farm market
Anaina Hou Community Park
Hale Halawai market
Princeville market
Kaua'i is known for its vibrant farmers markets, offering fresh local produce, baked goods, flowers, and much more. Since you're staying in Kapa’a and planning to visit a farmers market on Saturday, you have several great options to choose from. Here’s a breakdown of the markets you mentioned, along with a few additional suggestions to ensure you don’t miss out on the best of what Kaua’i has to offer:
- Kauai Community Market (Lihue)
This is one of the largest and most popular farmers markets on the island, located in Lihue. It's a great place for local produce, flowers, artisan foods, and crafts. They often have a variety of organic options and live music, making it a fun stop. It runs from 9 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays.
- Grove Farm Market (Lihue)
Located at the historic Grove Farm, this market offers a wide range of fresh fruits, vegetables, local meats, and prepared foods. It’s also a great spot to grab some local handmade products, like jams and soaps. The market typically runs from 9 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays, and it’s a bit more low-key compared to the Kauai Community Market.
- Anaina Hou Community Park (Kilauea)
This market is located in Kilauea and is a bit more laid back, offering fresh produce, local baked goods, and crafts. If you’re up on the North Shore, this market is a wonderful stop to check out the local farmers and artisans. The market runs from 9:30 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays.
- Hale Halawai Market (Hanalei)
Another North Shore favorite, this farmers market is smaller but offers a great selection of fresh, local products. You can find produce, baked goods, and handmade goods. It runs on Saturdays from 9 AM to 12:30 PM and is located in Hanalei, so it's a perfect stop if you're exploring the North Shore.
- Princeville Market (Princeville)
Held at the Princeville Shopping Center, this market offers a good selection of local fruits, veggies, and prepared food, along with a few artisan booths. It’s a great option if you're staying near Princeville or exploring the area. The market runs on Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM.
Additional Markets to Consider:
- Kilauea Market (Kilauea)
This is another great option if you’re in the North Shore area, offering fresh fruits, vegetables, and local products. It’s smaller than some of the others but still offers a great selection of items.
- Hanapepe Farmers Market (Hanapepe)
While not on Saturday, it’s worth mentioning as it takes place on Fridays from 3 PM to 6 PM in Hanapepe, which is close to Kapa’a. This market offers a wide variety of locally grown produce, food stands, and handmade items, perfect for stocking up for the weekend.
With these options, you’ll have plenty of great spots to explore on Saturday! If you want to make the most of your trip, try visiting a few different markets to experience the variety of fresh produce and local goods Kaua’i has to offer. Whether you’re looking for exotic fruits, fresh flowers, or baked treats, you’re sure to find something delicious to bring back to your condo. Enjoy your trip to Kaua’i!
