Outrigger Kaanapali beach hotel

We are booked in two rooms for a week's stay at the beginning of February.

My daughter can now join for three or the seven nights. We contacted Costco travel, who said "98% certain" she can be added, possibly for an additional charge at check in.

Has anyone done this recently with success? I am anxious to buy her flights, as I have an annoying history of waking to process increases...

Insights always appreciated!

It sounds like you’re looking to finalize the details for your stay at the Outrigger Ka’anapali Beach Hotel and add your daughter for part of your trip. Here are a few insights and tips based on recent experiences and the information you've provided:

1. Adding a Person After Booking

It’s quite common for hotels to accommodate changes like adding an extra guest, especially if there’s availability. According to Costco Travel’s response, they are “98% certain” your daughter can be added, possibly for an additional charge at check-in. This is typically the case if there’s space available in the rooms and if the hotel allows for flexible bookings. Given that you have booked two rooms, it’s likely they can accommodate your daughter without much issue, though the additional charge is to be expected in case of extra bedding, amenities, or occupancy fees.

2. Additional Charges

Hotels often charge a small fee for additional guests, especially if it involves adding an adult or a child beyond the original reservation. These fees may include charges for extra bedding, meals, or amenities. Since your daughter will be staying for part of the week, it’s likely that they will charge you a prorated fee for her stay. To avoid surprises, it’s a good idea to confirm this directly with the hotel or Costco Travel to get a more accurate estimate of what the cost will be.

3. Booking Flights

If you’re worried about flight prices increasing, it’s understandable to want to confirm the hotel’s policy first. Given the uncertainty, I recommend booking your daughter’s flight sooner rather than later, as flight prices can increase closer to the travel date. You could book her flight for the full seven days (just in case) and adjust or cancel the ticket later if the hotel’s policies change. Some airlines offer flexible options like free changes or credits that may help if you need to alter her stay plans.

4. Confirming Hotel Details

To avoid any last-minute surprises, it’s advisable to contact the Outrigger Ka’anapali Beach Hotel directly to confirm that they can add your daughter to your reservation. Ask about any additional charges and clarify the process. If possible, get written confirmation (via email) so that you’re fully prepared when checking in. The hotel may be able to provide more concrete details on their policies and pricing.

5. Recent Experiences

Many travelers have successfully added additional guests to their reservations at the Outrigger Ka’anapali Beach Hotel, especially when the booking is made through a third-party site like Costco Travel. However, experiences can vary depending on the time of year, room availability, and the specific booking conditions, so it’s always best to double-check.

6. Why the Delay in Confirmation?

Sometimes, third-party booking agents like Costco Travel are unable to finalize these details immediately, especially if they don’t have direct access to real-time hotel information. This is likely why they gave you a “98% certain” response. Reaching out directly to the hotel will give you peace of mind that everything is squared away before you finalize your daughter’s flight.

In summary, adding your daughter to the reservation seems highly likely, but you’ll need to confirm the exact process and any potential additional charges directly with the hotel. Given that the room setup and availability play a role in this, I recommend reaching out soon and booking her flight as soon as you get the green light. Enjoy your stay at the Outrigger Ka’anapali Beach Hotel—it’s a beautiful spot to relax and enjoy Maui!
