Erosion

I’m sorry I know this has been asked already but is the beach in front of Hyatt vacation club still very narrow? There hasn’t been a review of that property since January

The beach in front of the Hyatt Residence Club in Ka'anapali has experienced noticeable erosion over the past several years, particularly after winter swells and occasional storms. While some sections remain wide enough for sunbathing and walking, other areas closer to the resort have narrowed, especially near the high tide line.

Based on recent visitor reports and photos as of early 2025, the situation is as follows:

  • The central stretch of Ka’anapali Beach near the Hyatt generally still allows for beach chairs and a small area for sunbathing, but the sand narrows at high tide.
  • During periods of stronger surf or recent storm activity, the beach can appear quite narrow, and some chairs or towels may need to be placed closer to the waterline.
  • Access to the beach is still available directly from the resort, and the swimming areas remain safe, though waves can be moderate depending on conditions.

Tips from visitors:

  • Arrive early in the day to secure a spot with more space before the tide moves in.
  • Bring portable chairs or towels that can be moved as needed with the tide.
  • Check local surf reports if your plan includes swimming, as waves can vary significantly seasonally.

In summary, the beach in front of the Hyatt Residence Club is narrower than in past decades, but it is still usable for resort guests. It is not as expansive as central Ka’anapali Beach, so planning around tides and surf conditions will help maximize your beach experience.
