Where to stay with kids in Las Vegas - end October?

Hi,

Hoping someone can help advise me. My husband has to work in Las Vegas a lot of the time and this autumn, myself and my children are going to join him for October half term holidays. I am looking for the best place to stay with them that will be fun - the only definite is we’d like a pool - they love water and water parks etc (any recommendations for those would also be amazing - although not sure weather lends itself to that by late October?). I have no interest in gambling so the quality of casinos unimportant but we’d like a nice hotel. Thanks in advance!

Las Vegas can be a fantastic destination for families, even if you're not interested in the casino scene. Given that you're looking for a family-friendly experience, especially one with a great pool and water activities, here are a few recommendations for places to stay and things to do:

  • Excalibur Hotel & Casino: This is one of the more affordable family-friendly hotels in Vegas. While it does have a casino, the hotel itself is very kid-focused, with a medieval castle theme that children often love. The pool area is large, and there’s a water park with a variety of slides and splash zones. The hotel also has a fun arcade and a tournament of knights dinner show that kids typically enjoy.
  • Mandarin Oriental (now Waldorf Astoria): A bit more upscale, but a quiet and luxurious option for families looking for something more refined. The Waldorf has an incredible pool with great views of the strip. The property also offers family-oriented services and a great atmosphere away from the heavy casino vibe. While the water parks aren't on-site, it's a great spot to relax, and the spa is excellent for adults while the kids enjoy the pool.
  • The Venetian Resort: This is a great option if you want a more luxurious stay. The Venetian is not only a hotel but an experience, featuring canals with gondola rides that kids love. It’s family-friendly, and their pool areas are relaxing. The property also has several great dining options, shopping, and entertainment for children. The themed pool areas are perfect for families looking for a place to unwind after exploring the Strip.
  • Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas: Located at the southern end of the Strip, this hotel offers a family-friendly, quieter environment, away from the hustle of the Strip. The pool area is beautiful, and the property doesn’t have a casino, which might appeal to families looking for a more relaxed atmosphere. It’s a great place to unwind and relax, with lots of space for kids to enjoy the water and more peace for the adults.
  • Mandalay Bay: If your kids are water lovers, the Mandalay Bay might be perfect. This hotel boasts an amazing pool area, including a sandy beach and a lazy river, which are fun for children. There’s also the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef Aquarium, which is a big hit with families. It’s one of the most family-oriented hotels in Las Vegas and has a great combination of pools, water activities, and family-friendly entertainment.
  • Cirque du Soleil - "O" at Bellagio: Even though you mentioned you're not into gambling, Las Vegas has a lot of shows that are perfect for families, and Cirque du Soleil’s "O" at Bellagio is one of the best. It's a stunning water-based show that would keep your kids engaged. Check the schedules in advance for tickets!

Water Park Recommendations:

  • Wet 'n' Wild Las Vegas: Although it's a bit of a drive from the main Strip, Wet 'n' Wild is a fantastic water park featuring plenty of slides, a lazy river, and a wave pool. Even though the weather may cool down in late October, it should still be warm enough for a fun day out, and the park is open through October.
  • Mandala Bay Beach: As mentioned, the pool at Mandalay Bay offers a beach-like experience with soft sand and clear water, which kids typically enjoy. While it's not a water park, it provides a great alternative with fun water activities.

Late October is generally a good time for pool activities in Las Vegas, with temperatures usually in the mid-70s to low 80s during the day. Some pools may be slightly cooler, but still enjoyable for a swim. Be sure to confirm pool hours and availability when booking your hotel.

In summary, for your family, hotels like the Excalibur, Mandalay Bay, and Venetian are great options that offer excellent pools, kid-friendly activities, and an overall fun atmosphere without the heavy focus on gambling. Enjoy your time in Las Vegas!
