Sphere bag policy

Does anyone have experience with the bag policy at the Sphere? I believe it says 6"x6"x2" online which is quite small. I'm wondering how strictly they follow this policy.

Good question. Yes — Sphere Las Vegas does enforce a strict bag-policy that allows only very small bags, and yes, many people report the policy is enforced rather strictly.

Here’s how the policy works and what to expect if you’ve tried to bring a bag larger than their stated limits:

What the official policy says:

  • Sphere is a “no-bag” facility — large bags, backpacks, totes, duffels, camera bags, etc., are not permitted.
  • Only small clutches, purses, or fanny packs no larger than approximately 6″ × 6″ × 2″ are allowed.
  • Exceptions exist only for diaper bags or medically necessary bags, which are still subject to search.
  • There is no public bag-check service — if your bag doesn’t meet the requirements and you can’t store it elsewhere (hotel/car), you likely won’t be allowed in.

How strictly the policy is enforced — what people report from recent events:

  • Many concert-goers say that security at Sphere is “very strict,” especially on nights with high attendance or when security screening is heavier. Bags are often measured or visually inspected; if a bag is clearly above the allowed size, people are turned away.
  • That being said, there are also personal reports of individuals with slightly larger cross-body bags or small totes being allowed entry — but that appears to be more “hit or miss,” potentially due to variability in how strictly individual security staff interpret the rules. For example, one person wrote: > “I had a cross-body bag that was like 8x8 … and no issues.”
  • Others warn that this variability makes it risky — if you show up with anything over the limit, you might be turned away (and there’s no guaranteed storage or bag-check).

What that means for you — best suggestions:

  • Assume the bag-policy is strictly enforced. Best to bring a small clutch, wristlet, or fanny pack that clearly meets the 6″×6″×2″ limit.
  • If you try to bring anything larger (cross-body, small purse, etc.), treat that as a gamble — some people get in, some get turned away. Don’t count on it.
  • Avoid backpacks, camera bags, totes, or any luggage. Those are almost guaranteed to be rejected.
  • If you truly need a backpack or larger bag (e.g. for medical reasons), contact Sphere’s Guest Relations ahead of time and be ready for extra screening.

Bottom line: Yes — the 6″ × 6″ × 2″ bag-size rule at Sphere is real and many guests say it’s enforced strictly. Some visitors manage to “get away” with a slightly larger bag, but that’s unpredictable and not guaranteed. If you want to avoid the risk of being turned away, plan to travel ultra-light and stick to a small clutch or fanny pack.
