Looking for anti Conventional Wisdom opinions...
Mine?
We are not fans of Circa and Wynn. Had subpar experiences at both on multiple occasions. That said, we are the proverbial low sample size outliers. Everyone else loves them both.
Vegas is the soup capital of our world. Not that we are soup fanatics. My favorite bowl is at Slice of Vegas and my wife's was at the old crab spot at Harrahs (now a G Ramsay joint). Who looks forward to soup in LV?!? Ha!
Im really looking forward to the Hard Rock Guitar Hotel. And im a top tier Mirage fan, my favorite property. RIP. The Guitar in Hollywood FL is pretty awesome even from afar.
It’s great to hear that you’re thinking outside the box when it comes to Las Vegas! It's easy to follow the popular trends, but sometimes the lesser-known gems provide the best experiences. I’ll definitely dive into some thoughts on your opinions, as well as some additional unconventional takes on Vegas.
First, your dislike of Circa and Wynn is interesting, as both are fan favorites. Circa, with its focus on sports and its modern vibe, can be hit or miss depending on your interests. Some love the high-energy sports books and rooftop pool, while others find the crowds a bit overwhelming. Wynn, on the other hand, can feel a bit too polished and formal for those looking for a more relaxed, down-to-earth Vegas experience. That said, it's always refreshing to hear different perspectives, especially when others rave about these properties.
Now, your “soup capital” idea is definitely a unique take! Who would think of soup in Las Vegas, right? But Slice of Vegas does have a solid reputation for comfort food, and I completely get the appeal. A great bowl of soup, especially something unexpected, can be a real highlight after a long day of walking the Strip or gambling. And your mention of the old crab spot at Harrah’s (now a Gordon Ramsay spot) is a fun callback to how food can truly define our Vegas memories. It’s interesting how you’ve found soup to be such a unique and memorable experience in a city known for its extravagant meals. Kudos for highlighting the unassuming dishes that make Vegas personal for you!
In short, it’s refreshing to see someone challenge conventional Vegas wisdom and look for those out-of-the-ordinary experiences. Vegas is so much more than the standard tourist attractions, and finding your own personal favorites—whether it's soup or a legendary hotel—is part of the fun. And with the new Hard Rock Guitar Hotel coming, it sounds like you’re ready for a new chapter of Vegas excitement!
