construction at Muana kea

We are celebrating our 50th in July and we thought we would stay at Muana Kea. On the website they mention possible construction. Does anyone have updated information on what is going on there

Congratulations on celebrating your 50th! The Mauna Kea Resort on the Big Island is a beautiful and iconic destination, so it’s understandable you’d want to know about any construction that might affect your stay.

Regarding the construction at Mauna Kea, there have been updates that the resort is undergoing renovations and improvements. The construction appears to be part of ongoing efforts to refresh and upgrade the property to maintain its luxury status. This may include work on certain areas of the resort, such as the lobby, guest rooms, and possibly some outdoor spaces. Some reports have mentioned that there might be noise or disruptions during the day, but these are typically limited to certain sections of the resort to minimize the impact on guests.

Here’s what I recommend you consider:

  • Check for Specific Dates and Areas Affected: Construction is often scheduled in phases, so the impact on guests can vary depending on when you’re there. It’s worth contacting the resort directly to inquire about any specific work happening during your stay, especially if you have particular preferences for quiet areas or room types.
  • Ask About Room Locations: Some areas of the resort may be quieter during renovations. For example, rooms in parts of the resort away from the construction zones (e.g., near the beach or golf course) might be more peaceful. Make sure to request a room in one of these quieter areas if possible.
  • Alternative Amenities: If any facilities (such as restaurants, pools, or spas) are undergoing renovation, the resort might offer alternative options or special accommodations to make up for it. It's good to check what amenities will be fully available during your stay.
  • Time of Day: Construction typically takes place during the daytime hours, but it’s helpful to confirm if any noisy work will be happening during the time you plan to relax in your room or around the pool.

While it’s possible there will be some minor inconveniences, many guests still enjoy their stay at Mauna Kea even during renovations, as the resort’s overall setting and luxury offerings often outweigh the disruptions. If you’re flexible and can time your stay around the quieter periods, you’ll still have a wonderful 50th celebration!

To get the most up-to-date information, I’d recommend contacting the Mauna Kea Resort directly. They can provide specifics about what work is being done and how it might affect your trip.

Enjoy your celebration, and I hope your stay at Mauna Kea is memorable!
