Car Reservation Entrance

Do I need a reservation for .....

~ Enter West Glacier to Babb

~ Enter Babb to Many Glacier (I have a boat reservation for that day)

~ Enter St Mary to West Glacier

For the 2023 season, Glacier National Park has implemented a vehicle reservation system for certain areas during the peak visitor months (typically June through mid-September) to help manage traffic and reduce congestion. Here's what you need to know about the areas you're planning to visit:

  • West Glacier to Babb: This section of the park, which is part of the Going-to-the-Sun Road, does require a reservation during peak hours (generally from late June through mid-September). If you're visiting during these months, you'll need to book a reservation in advance to drive on this road. Outside of these peak times, reservations are not required.
  • Babb to Many Glacier: While there is no vehicle reservation required specifically for the route from Babb to Many Glacier, be aware that parking at the Many Glacier area can fill up quickly, especially during peak times. It is advisable to arrive early or check for shuttle options if you are concerned about parking. Your boat reservation at Many Glacier should not be impacted by the vehicle reservation system; just make sure to allow enough time for parking and to reach the boat dock.
  • St. Mary to West Glacier: The section of the Going-to-the-Sun Road between St. Mary and West Glacier does require a reservation during peak season, so you will need to book this in advance if you're traveling during the reservation period. This reservation system helps manage the high volume of visitors on this scenic and popular route.

For reservations, the park offers timed entry slots, so you can choose your arrival window. If you plan to visit during the summer months, it is highly recommended to secure your vehicle reservations as early as possible, as they can fill up quickly. Also, be sure to check the official Glacier National Park website for the most up-to-date information on the reservation system and availability during your trip dates.
