Vegas sign

Hi, we'll be staying at the horseshoe, will maybe make the Vegas sign our first thing to do on our first day, what's the best way to get there? If we walk how long will it take? I've looked on the map and have a rough guide of where it is, thought maybe we could walk back at least and stop off at Mandalay bay, luxor and Excalibur. Tia

The famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign is located south of the main Strip, and while it's a bit of a walk from the Horseshoe (formerly Bally's), it's definitely doable for those who enjoy walking and exploring along the way. Here's how to get there and some tips for your trip:

Walking Directions: From the Horseshoe, the distance to the Vegas sign is around 1 mile (about 1.6 kilometers). It will take you approximately 20–30 minutes to walk, depending on your pace. You’ll need to head south on Las Vegas Boulevard. There are sidewalks the entire way, and you'll pass by various hotels and attractions as you walk, which is great for taking in the sights.

Walking Back via the Resorts: After visiting the sign, you can definitely walk back up the Strip and stop off at several iconic resorts along the way, including:

  • Mandalay Bay: A short walk north from the sign, Mandalay Bay is home to the Shark Reef Aquarium and the House of Blues.
  • Luxor: Just a little further, the pyramid-shaped Luxor Hotel and Casino is a landmark worth checking out, along with its massive atrium and the Sky Beam (which is visible from a long distance). You can also explore the shops and restaurants here.
  • Excalibur: Continuing north, you’ll come across the castle-themed Excalibur, which is another fun stop. The hotel's arcade and medieval-themed attractions can make for some entertaining stops along the way.

Alternative Transportation Options: If walking seems a bit much or you want to save your energy, here are a few other ways to get to the sign:

  • Taxi or Uber/Lyft: A quick and affordable option, taking a taxi or rideshare service will get you there in just a few minutes. It's usually a 5-10 minute ride from the Horseshoe to the Vegas sign.
  • Deuce Bus: The Deuce, a double-decker bus, runs along the Strip and makes a stop near the Vegas sign. It's a budget-friendly option if you're looking to avoid walking or driving.
  • Monorail: The Monorail doesn't go directly to the sign but can get you close. You can take it to the MGM Grand stop and then walk south to the sign from there (about a 10-minute walk). However, this will still add some time to your journey.

Other Tips: - If you're planning to take photos, be prepared for crowds, especially during peak hours (early morning or sunset). The sign is a popular photo spot, so timing your visit either early in the day or later in the evening can help you avoid long waits. - Wear comfortable shoes if you plan to walk the distance, as it can be a bit warm, especially in the afternoon sun.

Enjoy your time in Vegas and have fun exploring the iconic landmarks along the way!
