Commanders Palace

After seeing on another thread that CP had a new menu I went and looked - I LOVE it!

That being said, there were only a couple of times we could fit it in to go, and of those few times all were sold out completely (already, for late March) except Sunday at 10 am.

If that's the Jazz Brunch time, will it be too early for the music? Any other positives/negatives about getting there when the doors open?

It sounds like you’re really excited about trying Commander’s Palace, and I can definitely understand why! Their new menu is indeed fantastic, and they’ve been known for both their amazing food and atmosphere for years.

The Jazz Brunch at Commander’s Palace is a New Orleans institution, and it's definitely worth experiencing. Since you’re planning to go at 10 am, here's what you should know:

  • Timing of Music: The jazz music at Commander’s Palace typically starts later during brunch service, usually closer to 11 am or so. If you arrive at 10 am, you might miss the very beginning of the performance, but you’ll still get to enjoy a large portion of the live jazz experience as it picks up during your meal.
  • Positives of Going Early: Being there right when the doors open has a few upsides. First, it’s generally less crowded at that time, which means you’ll get a more relaxed atmosphere. Service might also be quicker as it’s still early in the day, so you’ll have more time to enjoy the food and ambiance without feeling rushed. Plus, you can enjoy the quieter part of the day before the full brunch crowd arrives.
  • Negatives: The downside to arriving early is that you might not catch the full Jazz Brunch vibe, especially since the music typically gets lively around 11 am. The early seating also means you might not get as prime of a seat for the performance. The later you go, the better your chance of being right next to the band or having a more immersive experience. If the music is the main attraction for you, this could be a consideration.

That said, going early is still a fantastic way to experience Commander’s Palace. The food is always top-notch, and the atmosphere is quintessential New Orleans. It’s also a great opportunity to get in before the crowds and still enjoy some of the famous hospitality and ambiance. If you’re okay with missing out on the peak of the jazz performance, then this is a great option.

If you’re set on experiencing the full jazz vibe, you might consider trying to get a reservation later in the day, or looking for another time slot that works with the music schedule. However, if your goal is to try the food without a long wait, this could be an excellent choice!
