The Xiangyang Martyrs' Cemetery, located on Yanghu Mountain southwest of Xiangyang City, covers an area of over 1,100 mu (approximately 1,100 mu). Construction began in 1951, rebuilt in 1975, and renovated in 1998 and 2011. It commemorates the revolutionary martyrs who died in the Battle of Xiangfan and those who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of Xiangyang during the First and Second Civil Revolutionary Wars. Over 100,000 people visit annually (during the Qingming Festival alone), making it a vital venue for the people of northwestern Hubei to commemorate the martyrs and promote revolutionary traditions. In September 2016, it was selected as one of the sixth national-level martyrs' memorial facilities.

It has a temperate monsoon climate. At the beginning of the founding of New China, the Xiangyang Prefectural Committee and the Special Administrative Office decided to bury 186 martyrs who gave their lives in the Battle of Xiangfan in order to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs who died in the liberation of Xiangyang. They also built a martyrs' cemetery and a "Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Tower", making it suitable for travel in all seasons.
