Gluten free dining in Warehouse District

I'll be staying near the Contemporary Arts Museum next month and would appreciate advice on Gluten free and dairy free dining options in that area.

Any type of food except Thai or sushi works...

Thanks

The Warehouse District in New Orleans has a number of great dining options, and there are several restaurants nearby that offer gluten-free and dairy-free choices. Here are some of the top spots you might want to consider:

1. Shaya Shaya offers Israeli cuisine, and they have plenty of gluten-free and dairy-free options on their menu. The staff is knowledgeable about dietary restrictions, and they’re happy to accommodate special requests. Their hummus, tabbouleh, and lamb dishes are great choices for those with gluten and dairy sensitivities.

2. The Green Goddess Located in the heart of the French Quarter but close to the Warehouse District, The Green Goddess offers a range of creative dishes that are both gluten-free and dairy-free. The menu features healthy options with a focus on fresh ingredients, and they are open to dietary restrictions. Their vegan options are also quite tasty!

3. Red Fish Grill If you’re in the mood for seafood, Red Fish Grill is a great option. They have a variety of gluten-free and dairy-free dishes, including grilled fish, seafood gumbo (just double-check for any dairy in the broth), and their popular charbroiled oysters (they can be made dairy-free if requested). It's a casual, but tasty place to enjoy local flavors.

4. Emeril’s Emeril’s, a New Orleans institution, offers a sophisticated dining experience and has a solid range of gluten-free and dairy-free options. Their chefs are very accommodating to dietary restrictions, and you can enjoy a nice dinner with a range of classic Creole dishes reimagined to meet your needs.

5. Cousins Shucking Co. A little more casual, but if you love oysters, Cousins Shucking Co. is an excellent choice. They offer a range of fresh oysters, and many of their dishes are naturally gluten- and dairy-free, such as their raw oysters, seafood salads, and grilled shrimp.

6. Pêche Seafood Grill Pêche is another great spot for seafood lovers. Their menu includes a number of gluten-free options, especially grilled and fresh seafood dishes. The staff is also very attentive and knowledgeable about food allergies and dietary preferences, so they can modify dishes as needed to make them dairy-free.

7. Café Amelie Located in the French Quarter, just a short walk from the Warehouse District, Café Amelie offers a mix of Southern and Creole-inspired dishes. They have a solid number of gluten-free and dairy-free options, and they also offer vegan-friendly dishes. Their outdoor courtyard is a lovely spot to enjoy a meal if the weather is nice.

8. The Company Burger If you’re in the mood for a casual bite, The Company Burger in the Warehouse District is an excellent choice. They offer gluten-free buns for their burgers, and while they are more focused on burgers, they can make some modifications to accommodate dairy-free diets. Pair your burger with a fresh side salad or fries, and you’re good to go.

9. Tujague’s For classic New Orleans Creole, Tujague’s has a lot of potential for gluten- and dairy-free dining. They offer a few dishes that can be customized to your dietary preferences, including seafood and meat-based dishes. Their attentive staff will work with you to ensure you have a great meal.

These are just a few options in the Warehouse District that offer gluten-free and dairy-free meals, but New Orleans is a city that's becoming more aware of dietary needs. When dining out, it’s always a good idea to let your server know about your dietary restrictions, as many chefs are happy to make adjustments to accommodate guests with special dietary needs.

Enjoy your time in New Orleans! It's a city rich with flavors, and you’ll definitely be able to find some great meals that fit your needs.
