Car rental delivery

Hey travellers

We're planning on spending one night in Vegas before heading off for the Grand Canyon. Rather than muck about with car hire at the airport, I thought we'd rent one from Avis at the Bellagio (where we're planning on staying).

Unfortunately, Avis is out of stock on our date at any of the Strip locations. Sixt, however (and maybe others, I haven't got that far yet) offer a Strip delivery.

Has anyone done this - is it a relatively straight forward process?

TIA!

Renting a car with delivery to your hotel on the Las Vegas Strip can be a convenient option, especially if you're staying at a place like the Bellagio and want to avoid the hassle of picking up a car at the airport. It's definitely becoming more common, and many rental companies, including Sixt, offer this service. Here's what you can generally expect and some tips:

How It Works:

With car rental delivery, the process is relatively straightforward, but there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Booking the Car: Make sure to book your car in advance, especially if you’re renting from a company like Sixt, as availability can be limited, particularly during peak seasons. Confirm the details of the delivery process during the booking to avoid any confusion later.
  • Delivery Time: The delivery time usually falls within a specified window, which can range from an hour or more, depending on the company’s schedule and availability. Some companies may offer a more flexible delivery time if arranged in advance.
  • Meeting the Delivery Driver: Typically, the rental company will arrange for a driver to bring the car directly to your hotel. You’ll meet the driver in a designated area (usually the hotel valet or lobby). Be sure to arrive on time and have your ID and rental confirmation ready for a smooth handover.
  • Inspection and Paperwork: Expect to go through a quick inspection of the car before driving off, and sign the necessary paperwork. This will often include an agreement on the car's condition and the rental terms.
  • Return Process: Returning the car is typically done at a designated location, which may or may not be at the same hotel. Check with the rental company on where and how to return the vehicle before your departure, as some companies offer free pick-up from the hotel as well.

Pros of Hotel Delivery:

  • Convenience of having the car delivered directly to your hotel, saving you the time and hassle of going to the rental office.
  • More flexibility in timing, as you're not limited to airport rental hours.
  • Comfort of having a rental process handled right from your hotel, which can be ideal after a long flight or check-in at your accommodation.

Potential Drawbacks:

  • Delivery services may incur additional fees, so make sure to clarify this at the time of booking.
  • Depending on the location and time, delivery may take longer than expected, especially if there’s a high demand or heavy traffic on the Strip.
  • Limited availability during peak travel times, so you might want to confirm your car rental well in advance.

Other Car Rental Companies with Delivery:

If Sixt isn’t available or doesn't have the car you need, there are a few other companies that may offer delivery options, including:

  • Hertz – Known for offering rental deliveries in select locations along the Strip.
  • Enterprise – They also offer hotel delivery in some cases, depending on availability.
  • National Car Rental – National may provide delivery to hotels as part of their service, so it's worth inquiring directly.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, car rental delivery in Las Vegas can be a smooth process, especially if you’re staying at a major Strip hotel. Just be sure to confirm all details in advance and expect some flexibility regarding delivery times. Once you’ve arranged it, you can enjoy the convenience of having a rental car without the need to visit a rental location. Safe travels and enjoy your trip to the Grand Canyon!
