Day pass for a gym

Will be staying in Kapalua for a couple weeks in the very near future. Will be traveling with a teen aged who would like to get in a few work outs while there. Any suggestions for a gym that charges a reasonable fee. The Mintage of course is beautiful but a little out of the price range.

Aloha — great question! If you’re staying in Kapalua and want a gym for your teen to work out, you’ve got a few decent options within a reasonable drive. Here are some gyms that offer day passes or visitor-friendly short-term rates, plus a few tips.

  • The Club Maui (Kahana location): This is probably your best bet for a full-service gym near Kapalua. They offer a 1-day pass for $25, according to their short-term pass info.
  • Maui Powerhouse Gym (Kihei): A popular, well-equipped gym. Their drop-in (day) pass is $25.
  • Aloha Rock Gym (Kahului): If your teen likes climbing, this gym is super fun. Their day pass is $45, which includes shoe + harness rental.
  • Kāʻanapali Massage & Fitness Center: This is quite close to Kapalua. They offer a $10 day pass to their gym.
  • The Block Maui (Lahaina): More of a functional fitness gym / open gym; they have a $28 daily rate for open gym.

Alternative Option (if you're okay with in-resort workout):

  • Spa Montage Kapalua Bay Fitness Center: Since you're staying in Kapalua, check with your resort — the Montage fitness center is open to guests, although as “guest” access, it may be more limited or more expensive than the off-resort gyms.

Tips for Gym Visits:

  • Call ahead to confirm day-pass pricing and to make sure the gym has space — visitor policies can change.
  • Bring appropriate workout shoes and clothing. Some gyms (like The Club Maui) require covered shoes.
  • If your teen wants to do strength training, Powerhouse and The Block both have free weights. If they prefer cardio or climbing, Aloha Rock is a fun choice.
  • Plan for transportation time — depending on traffic, getting from Kapalua to some of these gyms will take a bit of driving.

Overall, for a reasonable day-use gym near Kapalua, The Club Maui (Kahana) is probably your best mix of convenience, price, and equipment. If you’re up for a slightly longer drive, Maui Powerhouse is another solid pick.
