Things to do with kids ages 11 & 15?

Hi all! I will be visiting my niece and nephew in Kansas City next week. Looking for suggestions of things to do with them? Ages 11 and 15. 1 girl 1 boy. I visit every year and we’ve already done nearly every kid friendly activity I can think of. Things we have already done listed below (many of them more than once as I have been visiting 2x a year for the last 15 years)

-KC Sporting Game

-KC Royals game

-KC Zoo

-Legoland

-aquarium

-kaleidoscope

-crown center

-science city

-top golf

-cool crest

-Great wolf lodge

-worlds of fun

None of us are interested in museums such as WWII, negro leagues museum or art museums.

It seems like we’ve already done nearly everything in the area that kids would enjoy. Is there something I’m not thinking of? Thank you :)

It sounds like you’ve already done a lot of the major kid-friendly activities in Kansas City, but here are a few more suggestions that might still be fun for your niece and nephew, given their ages:

  • Kansas City Escape Rooms: If they enjoy puzzles and teamwork, an escape room could be a fun and challenging activity. There are several options in Kansas City, such as The Exit Room and Breakout KC, with different themes and difficulty levels to keep it engaging for both the 11-year-old and 15-year-old.
  • Go Ape Zipline & Adventure Park: For an adventurous day out, the Go Ape Zipline & Adventure Park in Swope Park offers a great opportunity to experience outdoor fun. The course includes ziplines, tree-to-tree obstacles, and more. It’s a thrilling experience that’s great for kids of their ages and will give them a chance to be active and outdoors.
  • iFLY Kansas City (Indoor Skydiving): For a unique and exciting experience, try indoor skydiving at iFLY Kansas City. It’s an adrenaline-pumping activity that’s safe and fun for kids ages 3 and up. Both of them will likely enjoy the thrill of flying without the need to jump out of a plane!
  • Kansas City Roller Warriors Roller Derby: If they enjoy fast-paced sports, checking out a local roller derby match could be a fun experience. The Kansas City Roller Warriors have events that could be a great way to enjoy some action-packed sports entertainment with a fun local vibe.
  • Urban Air Trampoline Park: While you’ve already done TopGolf, Urban Air provides a great indoor trampoline park with a variety of activities. There are trampolines, climbing walls, obstacle courses, and more. This could be a great option for burning off some energy in a fun, safe environment.
  • Kansas City Paintball or Laser Tag: If they enjoy competitive games, you could try paintball or laser tag. Both are available in Kansas City, and it could be a great way for the kids to have some fun while working together or competing against each other.
  • Trampolines and Go-Karts at Adrenaline Zone: If they enjoy being active, you might want to check out Adrenaline Zone, which offers go-karts, laser tag, and a large trampoline park. It’s a great place to enjoy a variety of physical activities.
  • Bike Ride on the Katy Trail: The Katy Trail, which spans across Missouri, has a portion that’s accessible in the Kansas City area. You can rent bikes and take a scenic ride, allowing the kids to enjoy some fresh air while exploring the area.
  • Fountain Day at the Plaza: The Country Club Plaza is known for its fountains and beautiful architecture. You could have a leisurely walk around the Plaza, grab some ice cream or snacks, and enjoy the fountains. There’s also plenty of shopping if the kids want to pick up something fun.

Hopefully, these suggestions give you some fresh ideas for activities. Kansas City has a lot of hidden gems that can provide new experiences even for repeat visitors like you. Have fun, and enjoy your time with your niece and nephew!
