Will be coming to hopefully (fingers crossed) see the tulips on April 26th and 27th. Coming before Tulip Time to avoid the crowds. Anyway I am asking for authentic Dutch Restaurants, and not in the Dutch Village (don't want to pay to get in, just to find a restaurant). thanks.
Actually the Dutch village looks interesting, but my husband will be using a mobility scooter and was wondering if the price is worth it if we don't go on any amusement rides. I mean, what else is there to do there.
Thanks.
Holland, Michigan, offers a fantastic Dutch heritage experience, especially during the tulip season. While you’ll find many places that celebrate Dutch culture, there are a few authentic Dutch restaurants outside of the Dutch Village that you may enjoy:
As for the Dutch Village, it’s definitely a fun place to visit, but I understand your hesitation about the cost, especially if you don’t plan on doing the rides. The village is accessible for mobility scooters, with many attractions designed to be enjoyed by all visitors. It’s not just about the rides—there are traditional Dutch buildings, gardens, demonstrations of Dutch culture, and performances that make it a charming spot to explore. The village also offers a small museum and shops selling Dutch goods, but if you’re only interested in a low-key experience without spending too much time in the theme park section, it might be worth checking out for a short visit.
However, if you’re not planning to stay long and don’t want to pay the entry fee, exploring the tulip fields, the downtown area, and enjoying the authentic Dutch meals and desserts might be more your style. You can still experience Holland's Dutch heritage without needing to go into the Dutch Village itself.
Hope this helps with your planning! Enjoy your trip and the tulips!
