Hi all! I am flying into MDW with my husband Friday night 5/16 and leaving mid day 5/19. I am running the Chicago Springtime Half Marathon on Sunday, 5/18. We have Hyatt points and it looks like their are so many Hyatts to choose from. Points are all the same. We are looking for one close to the "L" and somewhat close to start on Columbus Drive, south of Monroe. Any help appreciated!
For your upcoming Chicago Springtime Half Marathon, you’ll want a Hyatt that’s conveniently located near the marathon start on Columbus Drive and accessible via public transportation. Given that you're flying into Midway (MDW), here are a few Hyatt options that should work well for you:
This Hyatt is located in the heart of the city and offers easy access to the "L" stations, making it a great choice for both convenience and comfort. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk to the marathon start on Columbus Drive and offers a stylish, modern atmosphere. The proximity to the Loop and multiple "L" lines (like the Blue and Red Lines) makes it very easy to get around the city before and after the race.
Another great option in the Loop area, this hotel is a little more budget-friendly while still offering comfort and convenience. It's only about a 10-15 minute walk from the marathon start. Plus, it’s close to the "L" stations at State/Lake or Monroe, which will make it easy for you to get around the city during your stay. This hotel has a more relaxed atmosphere, perfect for relaxing before and after your race.
This Hyatt is a little further west but still within walking distance (roughly 20-25 minutes) from the marathon start. If you prefer a quieter, less touristy area with easy access to downtown, this could be a good choice. You’ll have access to the Green and Pink "L" lines, which can quickly take you to the start line, but expect a slightly longer walk to get there compared to staying in the Loop.
If you’re looking for a more upscale experience, the Park Hyatt is a luxurious option located in the River North area. It’s around a 10-minute walk from the start of the race, offering both convenience and a more relaxed, high-end atmosphere. The hotel is near the Chicago Avenue "L" station, and although not as close to the "L" lines as some other options, it’s still a quick ride away from the marathon start.
In summary, all these hotels are accessible to public transportation, but if you're aiming for the most convenient option in terms of proximity to the race start, I’d recommend either:
Both will offer you quick access to the race, easy access to public transit, and a comfortable place to relax before and after your marathon!
