Oceans Edge, Margaritaville, or Fairfield inn??

We are going in October just for a couple of nights. We are a family with teenage boys, 13,13,16 so want to be somewhere with a good pool vibe but also close enough to downtown.

We need parking as driving down from Miami and also would be great if once parked we didn’t need to take the car out. Have shortlisted the hotels to oceans edge, Margaritaville and fairfield inn - in view of online reviews and affordability.

Please help me decide 😩

Thanks for sharing your details — it sounds like you’re looking for a hotel that balances a lively pool scene, family-friendly amenities, easy parking, and proximity to downtown Key West. Here’s a breakdown of your three shortlisted options:

1. Oceans Edge Resort & Marina

This is a large resort located a bit outside the downtown core (roughly 3–4 miles from Duval Street). It’s highly rated for its extensive pool area and marina access, making it ideal if your teenage boys enjoy water activities.

  • Multiple pools and poolside activities — very teen-friendly vibe.
  • Private marina access, water sports rentals, and onsite restaurants.
  • Complimentary parking and easy access if driving from Miami.
  • Distance to downtown means you may need to drive, take a shuttle, or ride bikes — it’s not quite “park once and forget it.”

2. Margaritaville Key West Resort

Located closer to downtown (near the Historic Seaport), this resort offers a fun, casual environment that appeals to families. The pool is lively, and the overall vibe is laid-back, fitting for teens who enjoy music and poolside games.

  • Pool and hot tub area are vibrant, with good space for family hangouts.
  • Walking distance to the waterfront and some restaurants, but still a short ride to Duval Street.
  • Parking is available but may have limited spots depending on demand — check in advance.
  • Onsite dining and entertainment options make it convenient for short stays.

3. Fairfield Inn & Suites Key West

This is a smaller, more budget-friendly option. It’s fairly central, which makes exploring downtown Key West convenient.

  • Moderate pool area — less lively compared to Oceans Edge or Margaritaville, but sufficient for a quick dip.
  • Walking distance to some shops and restaurants, but not as close to waterfront attractions.
  • Parking is generally available and straightforward.
  • Good choice if affordability and central location are your priority over resort-style amenities.

Recommendation:

Given your priorities — teenagers, good pool vibe, parking, and proximity to downtown — here’s a suggested ranking:

  • Oceans Edge: Best for a pool-focused stay with teens and water activities, but you’ll need to drive into downtown for evening outings.
  • Margaritaville: Balanced option — lively pool and closer to downtown, good for walking to restaurants and short excursions. Parking is adequate but may need planning.
  • Fairfield Inn: Best for convenience and budget, but pool experience and resort feel are more limited.

For a short family stay with teens, I’d lean toward Margaritaville if you want to “park once” and enjoy easy access to downtown and some pool fun, or Oceans Edge if the pool and water activities are the main priority and driving a couple of times into town is fine.
