Lots of questions

I am thinking of rope dropping Indiana Jones’s followed by haunted mansion then toon town. We will be there in October on a tier 5 day. Trying to get as much a possible done in one day. So it is my

understanding with Indiana jones if we have a wheelchair we can just enter at the exit so can we skip booking multi pass? If so I will book our first pass for haunted mansion. I am thinking that with it being the holiday version and a very busy day that I should get haunted as early as possible. After this we will have a scooter so I am wondering if it would be better for everyone to walk to toontown or should everyone else take the train and I drive their scooter over? How much time does it take for each? Also I saw in the morning Mickey and Minnie are outside their houses because it is so slow. However we used to love going into their houses at magic kingdom and would love to go inside. Can we still going inside or do we need to wait until they are inside? I also saw that some characters like Mickey are listed as toon town and at the front of the park are they in different costumes? Also we are going to be renting a scooter from Disney I know that it would be cheaper elsewhere but since it is only for one day I do not think it would be worth the extra hassle to get it from outside the park. Do we rent the scooter from inside the park or before we go in? And since we are park hopping does the chair hop with us or do we need to change out when we change parks? Since it is expected to be busy and I am trying to plan as much as possible to make this day as easy as possible. Thanks!

Planning a busy day at Disneyland on a Tier 5 day in October with a wheelchair and scooter involves several considerations to maximize your time and comfort. Here’s a detailed breakdown:

Indiana Jones Adventure:

  • If a member of your party uses a wheelchair, you can indeed enter through the exit for accessibility purposes. This generally allows you to skip the regular line, so a Lightning Lane or Genie+ reservation for this ride isn’t strictly necessary. However, keep in mind that boarding via the exit may still involve a short wait depending on ride capacity and cast member directions.

Haunted Mansion:

  • Booking a Lightning Lane (or Genie+ selection) for Haunted Mansion early in the day is a good strategy, especially for the holiday overlay which tends to be popular. Rope dropping the ride can also save some time if you prefer not to rely solely on a reservation.

Toontown:

  • Walking vs. taking the train: Walking from Haunted Mansion to Toontown will likely take 15–20 minutes at a moderate pace. Using the Disneyland Railroad may take a similar amount of time, especially with waits, but it can save energy for those who are walking less. Driving a rented scooter over while others take the train can work, but consider the logistics of picking up the scooter and finding a safe path into Toontown.

Mickey and Minnie Meet & Greets:

  • In the morning, Mickey and Minnie are often outside their houses for quick photos. If you want to go inside their houses (like at Magic Kingdom), you may need to wait until the interior meet-and-greet opens. Check the Disneyland app for updated character schedules. Costume differences: Characters at the park entrance or other locations may wear different outfits than in Toontown; this is standard and usually seasonal or themed.

Scooter rental and park hopping:

  • It’s most convenient to rent a scooter inside the park, just past security. This way, you can start using it immediately and avoid transporting an outside rental. Rentals are typically on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Scooters do not transfer between parks automatically. If you park hop, you will need to return the scooter at the first park and rent a new one at the next park. Plan for extra time if you intend to park hop.

Additional tips for a busy, accessible day:

  • Use the Disneyland app to monitor wait times and manage Lightning Lane selections efficiently.
  • Plan breaks and dining around your route to avoid backtracking and reduce fatigue.
  • Consider a flexible approach: prioritize rides that are most important and be ready to adjust if waits are longer than expected.

With careful planning—early rope drop, strategic Genie+/Lightning Lane selections, and understanding how the scooter works—you should be able to maximize your day without unnecessary stress.
