Family vacation

Me and my wife’s family are coming in next week we are staying near pine street I’m assuming most everything is back open except the piers. I’ve never been but I hear about the baby powder sand the sunsets. Anybody know some good coffee places? I heard about cool beans any other suggestions? I know we will do Oma’s and the starfish company I think me and the wife will do the porch for a date night does anybody else have any suggestions or tips?

Anna Maria Island is a beautiful choice for a family vacation, especially near Pine Avenue where you’ll be close to shops, restaurants, and the beach. The island is known for its soft, white “baby powder” sand and stunning sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico. Most attractions and restaurants are back open, though some piers may still be under repair or limited in access.

For coffee and breakfast spots, Cool Beans is a popular choice, but there are several other local favorites worth trying:

  • Java Cafe & Bakery: Known for strong coffee and fresh pastries, great for a morning pick-me-up before heading to the beach.
  • Starbucks at Gulf Drive: Convenient if you prefer a familiar chain with quick service.
  • Perico’s Coffee: Offers specialty coffee drinks and a relaxed vibe, perfect for starting your day on the island.

For dining, you already have some top spots lined up. Here are additional suggestions for casual or date-night options:

  • Oma’s Italian Restaurant: Excellent for family dinners with classic Italian dishes.
  • Starfish Company: Great for fresh seafood and a casual waterfront experience.
  • The Sandbar Restaurant: Popular for sunset views and seafood dishes; casual yet scenic for family or a couple’s outing.
  • The Porch: Perfect for a romantic date night, offering a cozy atmosphere and elevated seafood and American cuisine.
  • Anna Maria Oyster Bar: Casual dining with fresh seafood, suitable for families with kids or teens.

Additional tips for your visit:

  • Arrive at beaches early for parking and to enjoy cooler morning temperatures.
  • Take time to walk along the Gulf Drive area to explore local shops, galleries, and ice cream spots.
  • Sunsets are best viewed on the western Gulf-facing beaches; Bean Point and Coquina Beach are popular spots.
  • Consider renting bikes to get around the island efficiently while enjoying the scenery.

In summary, your plan covers many must-do spots, but adding a casual lunch at Anna Maria Oyster Bar or a sunset meal at The Sandbar can enhance the experience. For coffee, besides Cool Beans, try Java Cafe or Perico’s for a more local flavor. Overall, enjoy the relaxed pace, gorgeous beaches, and the laid-back island charm.
