Recommendations on rental car companies …

I heard there was some local business that offer rental would love to support small biz if you can give recs.

Also should we not leave luggage in car on first day before check in? I read where someone said go drop off your luggage… insinuating theft … and staying away from certain beaches leaving them to locals.
