Kansans in downtown Santa Barbara using Sunday shuttle

On a Sunday, August 10, where should we shuttle around in the areas of Downtown, Funk Zone, & Waterfron? We like to window shop, but mostly enjoy purchases from unique shops, not so much into clothing. We like yummy food, red wine, Belgium-style beers, and beaches!!! Please provide some strolling/shuttleing suggestions. We will ,at some point, Uber back to Miramar Beach AirBNB.

Santa Barbara’s downtown, Funk Zone, and waterfront areas are perfect for a Sunday stroll, shopping, and indulging in food and drinks. Since you enjoy unique shops, local wines, Belgian-style beers, and beaches, you can plan a relaxed day that mixes walking and shuttle stops.

Downtown Santa Barbara:

  • State Street is the main artery, ideal for window shopping and finding local artisanal stores, galleries, and unique gift shops. Skip the big chain stores and look for boutique shops selling local crafts, jewelry, and gourmet items.
  • Stop at local cafes for coffee or small bites. Some favorites for pastries and coffee include The French Press and Dune Coffee Roasters.
  • For wine lovers, tasting rooms like Santa Barbara Wine Collective offer a variety of local wines in a walkable area.

Funk Zone:

  • This artsy district is great for tasting local wines and beers. Many small wineries have tasting rooms here, so you can sample different varietals without leaving the area.
  • Belgian-style beers can be found at Funk Zone pubs and breweries, such as M Special Brewpub or Figueroa Mountain Brewing (check if they have Belgian-style offerings on tap).
  • Stroll through galleries, artisanal shops, and specialty food stores—look for chocolate shops, olive oils, and gourmet snacks unique to the region.

Waterfront / Harbor:

  • Stearns Wharf and the surrounding waterfront have local seafood spots and casual dining. Perfect for a lunch break or snack while enjoying ocean views.
  • Walk along the beachfront paths toward East Beach for sun and sand. This is a good spot to relax or take photos.
  • Local wine bars or pubs near the waterfront can offer a late afternoon drink with harbor views.

Shuttle & Strolling Tips:

  • Use the Sunday shuttle to hop between Downtown, Funk Zone, and Waterfront to minimize walking distances in the heat or if you want a leisurely pace.
  • Plan to start downtown, then take the shuttle to Funk Zone mid-morning or early afternoon, and finish at the waterfront in late afternoon to enjoy sunset views.
  • Uber or Lyft back to Miramar Beach AirBNB when ready, especially if you have any wine or beer tastings during the day.

Food & Drink Highlights:

  • Lunch at a seafood spot on the wharf or in the Funk Zone. Try fresh local catches or fish tacos.
  • Snack on small bites from artisanal shops, such as cheese, olives, or chocolates.
  • Plan wine tasting stops in the Funk Zone or downtown wine bars for Santa Barbara county reds.
  • For Belgian-style beers, check local breweries or gastropubs with rotating taps.

With this approach, you’ll cover the highlights, enjoy local flavors, and make the most of a Sunday in Santa Barbara without feeling rushed. The shuttle keeps things easy, while walking allows for window shopping and exploring hidden gems.
