Rosen Inn & Star Wars

In Orlando for a couple of nights in January, before cruise from Port Canaveral. We are only planning to go to the new Star Wars (closed for refurbishment last time we were there). We will be using public transport. Which is the best Rosen Inn to use and can you advise best way to get to Star Wars and purchase one day ticket? Many thanks.

It sounds like you have a great trip planned! The Star Wars attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando are definitely worth visiting, especially with the new additions in the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge area. Here’s some advice regarding your stay at the Rosen Inn and how to get to Star Wars at Disney World:

Best Rosen Inn to Stay At:

The Rosen Inn properties are a great option for convenience and value in the Orlando area. Since you are using public transportation, it would be best to stay at the Rosen Inn International, located at 7600 International Drive. This location is ideal for access to Disney World and other nearby attractions. It’s situated on International Drive, where there are plenty of restaurants, shops, and entertainment options. It’s also relatively easy to catch a bus to Disney World from here.

  • Rosen Inn International: This is the most convenient for public transportation to the parks, and it's close to major attractions on International Drive. It’s also one of the more affordable options within the Rosen Hotels chain.
  • Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando: Also located on International Drive, this one offers a similar location and amenities but may be a bit busier due to its proximity to shopping and dining hubs like Pointe Orlando.

Getting to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge:

To get to the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, your best bet is to use the Disney Transportation system or a rideshare service, especially since you're relying on public transport. There is no direct bus service from the Rosen Inn to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but there are options:

  • Disney's Magical Express: If you're staying at a Disney Resort (which doesn't seem to be the case here), they offer complimentary transportation to Disney parks. However, since you’re staying off-site, this won’t apply.
  • Public Bus System: You can take the Lynx Bus #50 or #111 from International Drive to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Check the current schedules on the Lynx website closer to your trip.
  • Rideshare (Uber/Lyft): A more direct and comfortable option would be to use a rideshare service. This is the fastest and most convenient way to get to Disney’s Hollywood Studios from your hotel. Expect a 15-20 minute drive depending on traffic, and it should cost around $15-$20 each way.

Purchasing Tickets for Star Wars:

For a one-day ticket to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, including access to the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attractions, you can purchase tickets either online or at the gate. However, to save time and avoid lines, it’s best to purchase your tickets online in advance:

  • Online Purchase: Go to the official Disney website or use the My Disney Experience app to buy tickets. You can choose a one-day ticket for Hollywood Studios, which will give you access to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, along with all other attractions in the park.
  • At the Gate: You can buy tickets at the entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but this might involve long lines, especially during peak times.

Additional Tips:

  • Make sure to arrive early to maximize your time in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, especially since it can get very busy.
  • Download the My Disney Experience app for the latest wait times and park maps, and to make reservations for rides and dining, if needed.
  • Consider using Disney’s Genie+ service to skip the regular lines for some popular rides in Hollywood Studios (if available at the time).

With 3 1/2 hours between your arrival and your next flight, you should be able to enjoy a full day at the park, but I recommend planning to leave the park with enough time to get back to your hotel and head to Port Canaveral for the cruise. If you need more specific transportation details closer to your trip, feel free to check with your hotel concierge for more current information.

Hope this helps! Enjoy your time at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and have a fantastic trip!
