High walkability score

Hi,

I am looking for a nicer area in the St. Pete/Clearwater area that has a relatively high walkability score; i.e. can walk to restaurants and shops but close to beach, pedestrian-friendly. Pass-a-Grille seems to have many of the attributes I am looking for, however am seeking similar suggestions besides this area along the Gulf. Thank you

If you’re looking for a walkable area in the St. Pete/Clearwater area that’s close to the beach, pedestrian-friendly, and has good access to restaurants and shops, Pass-a-Grille is definitely a great choice, but there are other neighborhoods along the Gulf that also offer high walkability and a similar vibe. Here are a few other areas to consider:

  • St. Pete Beach (Core Area)
    • Walkability: The core of St. Pete Beach is a highly walkable area, especially around the popular area of the Don CeSar Hotel and its nearby shops and restaurants. You can easily walk to the beach, dine at waterfront restaurants, or shop in local boutiques.
    • Attractions: Plenty of dining options, including casual seafood spots, cafes, and upscale restaurants. There’s also easy access to the beach and parks for leisurely walks or bike rides along the Gulf.
  • Clearwater Beach
    • Walkability: Clearwater Beach is a very popular area with great walkability. The area around Pier 60 has a high concentration of restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues, all within walking distance of the beach.
    • Attractions: Clearwater Beach is one of the most famous beaches in the area, with a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly atmosphere. You’ll find seafood restaurants, bars, boutiques, and even entertainment at the pier, all within easy walking distance of the beach.
  • Downtown St. Petersburg
    • Walkability: If you're open to being slightly further from the beach, downtown St. Petersburg offers a high walkability score with access to many shops, restaurants, museums, and waterfront parks. It’s an urban setting, so it’s ideal for those who like a lively, pedestrian-friendly vibe.
    • Attractions: Downtown St. Pete has a thriving arts and dining scene with popular spots like the Dali Museum, a variety of craft breweries, trendy eateries, and waterfront parks. It’s a great area for those looking for a more urban lifestyle while still being within a short drive to the beaches.
  • Indian Rocks Beach
    • Walkability: This beach town has a more relaxed and residential vibe, but there are still plenty of restaurants, cafes, and beach access within walking distance. It’s less crowded than Clearwater Beach or St. Pete Beach, offering a more laid-back atmosphere.
    • Attractions: Indian Rocks Beach has some great dining options right by the water, along with a few small shops. It’s perfect for those looking for a quieter, more tranquil beach town but still within walking distance of some local favorites.
  • Treasure Island
    • Walkability: Similar to Pass-a-Grille, Treasure Island offers a blend of beach access with restaurants, bars, and shops all within walking distance. The area is less commercialized than Clearwater Beach, but still offers plenty of things to do on foot.
    • Attractions: Treasure Island’s main drag, Gulf Boulevard, offers a variety of eateries and small shops. It’s quieter than some of the more tourist-heavy areas, making it ideal for a relaxed stay with easy beach access.

Summary: Besides Pass-a-Grille, some great areas to consider are St. Pete Beach (especially around the Don CeSar), Clearwater Beach (particularly the Pier 60 area), and Downtown St. Petersburg for a more urban feel. For a quieter, more relaxed beach experience with walkability, consider Indian Rocks Beach or Treasure Island. All of these areas offer a high walkability score and a great balance of beach access, restaurants, and shops.
