Private Charter Question

We used to go out with a captain that took us fishing in the back waters, and then a swim on the sand bar or private beach. She is retired and the last captain we went with wasn't keen on fishing. It seems most boats either go to the sand bar and snorkeling or fishing but not a combo. Does anyone have a recommendation for a boat that might do both. We have three people and would like to spend the day on a private charter in the back waters.

Thanks,

It sounds like you're looking for a private charter in Key West that offers a combination of both fishing and relaxation at the sandbar or a private beach, which is a great way to experience the area! While many charters in the Keys focus on either fishing or snorkeling, there are definitely some options that can provide a more personalized experience with both activities in one trip.

Here are a few recommendations for charters that may be able to accommodate your request for a full day of fishing and sandbar or private beach time:

  • Key West Fishing and Sandbar Charters – Several local companies offer customized private charters that combine fishing in the backwaters with a relaxing stop at one of the local sandbars. These charters usually last a full day and can be tailored to your preferences. You can spend the morning fishing and then head to a secluded sandbar for swimming and relaxing. They typically provide all the gear you need for both activities and can adjust the trip depending on what you enjoy most.
  • Dream Catcher Charters – Known for their personalized service, Dream Catcher Charters offers private trips that can include fishing in the backcountry, a visit to the sandbar, and even the option to visit remote beaches. The captain will work with you to plan a day that mixes fishing, swimming, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Key West.
  • Sunset Watersports – While they’re known for their sunset cruises and snorkeling trips, they also offer private charters that can be customized to include a variety of activities, such as fishing, a trip to the sandbar, and more. Their captains are experienced in backcountry fishing and can guide you to the best spots while allowing time for a relaxing swim or beach break.

When booking, it's a good idea to communicate your specific interests upfront, like how much time you want to spend fishing versus relaxing at the sandbar, so that the captain can adjust the itinerary accordingly. These types of charters are usually flexible and aim to cater to your preferences, ensuring you have the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation.

Enjoy your day on the water! Key West is full of beautiful spots to explore, and with a private charter, you’ll be able to customize your experience for an unforgettable day on the water.
