Hello, thank u in advance for advice re my Q. I am flying Delta, arriving to Atlantaat Terminal , leaving from IntlTerminalwith 1 checked bag. When i booked there was a 3-hr layover. Now it's 1 hr & 6 mins. From reading this forum, i see that when i arriv, i need to go downstairs & take the Plane Trainto Terminal Fto catch my intl Delta flight. I don'need to p/u my chkd bag and recheck it, do i?Any tips to expeditiously get from my arrival gate to the Plane Train? Thanks again.

When you arrive at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport (ATL) on your Delta flight and need to catch a connecting international flight, you're correct that you'll need to take the Plane Train to Terminal F. However, there’s no need to pick up and recheck your checked bag if your connection is on Delta and both flights are under the same booking. Your checked bag will be automatically transferred to your international flight, so you can bypass baggage claim.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get to your next gate as quickly as possible:

  • Arrival at Terminal A (or your arrival terminal): Once you disembark from your flight, follow the signs for "Terminal Link" or "Plane Train." The Plane Train is located downstairs, and it connects all terminals.
  • Plane Train: The Plane Train runs every 2 minutes and is very efficient. You’ll need to board the train that goes to Terminal F (International Terminal). This ride takes just a few minutes.
  • Arrival at Terminal F: Once you arrive at Terminal F, follow the signs to your gate for your international flight. You may need to go through security again depending on your airline’s policies, but this is typically quick.

Here are a couple of tips to help you make the most of your 1-hour, 6-minute layover:

  • Stay aware of your gate information: As soon as you deplane, double-check the information screens for your departure gate and any updates on your international flight.
  • Walk quickly: Once you’re off the Plane Train, move swiftly through the terminal. Atlanta is a large airport, so don’t waste any time!
  • Security Lines: If you need to go through security, try to pick a line that seems less crowded (usually, lines in Terminal F for international departures are a bit faster).

In summary, you do not need to pick up or recheck your checked bag during your layover, and you should be able to make your connection if everything is on time. Just follow the signs for the Plane Train, take it to Terminal F, and make your way to your international flight's gate. Since your layover is on the shorter side, stay alert and move quickly through the terminal to ensure a smooth transfer.
