Sports bars near Waianae on Oahu?

I will be on Oahu from January 18th through February 1st, staying in Waianae with my girlfriend. Both of us are football fans, and on Sunday the 25th, is the day of the AFC and NFC Championship games. Where is a good sports bar nearby to visit to watch the games?

Thanks in advance!!

Waianae, located on the leeward coast of Oahu, is a more residential and local area, so sports bars are fewer compared to Honolulu or the North Shore. However, there are a few nearby spots where football fans can catch the AFC and NFC Championship games on Sunday, January 25th.

Most of the sports bars in or near Waianae are casual, local-oriented, and offer a relaxed atmosphere with multiple TV screens for big games. If you’re willing to drive a bit toward Kapolei or closer to the freeway, you’ll have more options with larger crowds and better amenities.

Here are some recommended options:

  • Waianae Boat Harbor Bars & Grills – Some small local bars around the harbor have TVs and show sports, and you can enjoy a local vibe while watching the games.
  • Tiki’s Bar & Grill – Located in nearby Kapolei, about 20 minutes from Waianae, Tiki’s has multiple TVs, good food, and a sports-friendly atmosphere.
  • Monkeypod Kitchen – While more of a restaurant than a dedicated sports bar, the Kapolei location has TVs and can be a good spot to enjoy the game with good food and drinks.

Additional tips for watching the games in Waianae:

  • Arrive early, especially for championship Sunday, as seating can fill up quickly in smaller local bars.
  • Check ahead with the establishment to confirm that they will broadcast both the AFC and NFC games.
  • Consider combining the game viewing with a meal or happy hour for a more relaxed experience, since most bars in Waianae are small and casual.

If you’re open to driving closer to Kapolei or even down toward Ewa Beach, you’ll find larger sports bars like Buffalo Wild Wings or other chain sports bars with multiple screens and a bigger crowd for the championship games. However, for a true local Waianae experience, the smaller harbor-area bars are the way to go.
