Transportation to Busch gardens discontinued

Hello, I’ve had an email today saying that the free transportation from Orlando to Busch gardens is being discontinued from November 3rd, annoyingly we don’t drive, have tickets for Busch gardens and we’re due to visit just days after.

This was the free transportation that picked up from various hotels & Seaworld.

Does anyone know of any affordable alternatives please? Is even Uber/Lyft an option or would that be too expensive?

With the discontinuation of the free shuttle from Orlando to Busch Gardens, visitors without a car will need to consider alternative transportation options. While this change is inconvenient, there are still several ways to reach the park, ranging from private transport to ride-hailing and shared services.

Here are some affordable alternatives:

  • Uber or Lyft: Both services operate in Orlando and can take you directly to Busch Gardens in Tampa. Since the park is approximately 85–90 miles from Orlando, the fare for a standard UberX or Lyft could range between $120–$150 one-way, while larger vehicles (XL) for groups or families may cost more. Splitting the fare among your group can make this more manageable.
  • Private shuttle or car service: Several companies offer shuttle services between Orlando and Busch Gardens. Pre-booking a shared shuttle can be more affordable than a private ride, and some services may pick you up from your hotel directly.
  • Rental car for the day: If you’re comfortable driving, renting a car just for the day can be cost-effective, especially for families or groups. Parking at Busch Gardens is available, and you have flexibility on timing.
  • Bus or coach tours: Some tour operators in Orlando offer day trips to Busch Gardens with round-trip transportation and sometimes even park tickets included. Prices vary but can be reasonable for families.

Additional tips:

  • Plan your trip in advance, especially if using ride-hailing services, to avoid peak time price surges.
  • Consider combining transportation with friends or other families staying at nearby hotels to split costs on a private shuttle or UberXL/Lyft XL.
  • Check with your hotel concierge; some hotels partner with private shuttle companies and can arrange discounted rates for guests.
  • If using Uber/Lyft, compare fares between the two apps and check if ride passes or discounts are available.

In summary, while the free shuttle is no longer available, Uber, Lyft, private shuttles, rental cars, or organized coach tours are viable alternatives. The best option depends on your budget, group size, and flexibility. Planning ahead will ensure you reach Busch Gardens comfortably and enjoy your day without stress.
