Creekside Inn, reviews
We are reading conflicting reviews. Has it changed owners in last year? We made reservations last Oct. for a break in our driving to KW for Fantasy Fest. Price sounded fishy at $50 a night but they confirmed our reservation. We just need it for a night of sleep. Staying a night on our way down and back up.
Good question. Here’s a breakdown of what recent reviews, amenities, and guest feedback say about Creekside Inn in the Florida Keys (Islamorada), along with thoughts on whether your very low rate might raise red flags or be realistic.
What Creekside Inn Is Like Today
- Creekside Inn is a waterfront motel/inn located in Islamorada, on the canal side by the Tavernier Creek Bridge.
- The property has two outdoor pools, a picnic/BBQ area, complimentary Wi-Fi, and deep-water docks for boats (if you’re stopping by water).
- Rooms are modest, and many include kitchenettes (microwave, fridge) which makes it pretty functional for an overnight road-trip stop.
- According to the Travelocity listing, the inn was “completely renovated in October 2024.”
Guest Feedback — What People Like
- On Booking.com, the inn has a 7.5/10 overall score, which suggests reasonable satisfaction overall.
- Many guests praise the location (waterfront), friendly staff, and value — especially for a Keys stopover.
- Some rooms (especially water-view ones) are very well received; Expedia highlights “premium bedding” and “renovated in 2024.”
Common Complaints / Risks
- On TripAdvisor, some reviewers mention limited front-desk hours and difficulty getting basic requests (extra towels, ironing board, etc.).
- Maintenance issues: a few guests say bathrooms feel dated, with small showers or lack of shelving, and canal-side dock areas are not always well maintained.
- Some say that private boat dock space is leased out to rental businesses, limiting guest access.
- There are a handful of stronger negative reviews: one guest described a “musty” smell, noisy pool area late at night, and lack of overnight staff.
Has It Changed Ownership?
There’s no clear evidence in publicly available sources that Creekside Inn has dramatically changed ownership in the past year. However:
- The claim of a full renovation in October 2024 (from Travelocity) suggests a significant investment in the property, which could explain some of the more positive “newer” reviews.
- Management is somewhat visible in reviews: on TripAdvisor, the General Manager (Ronny) responds directly to guest criticisms, which indicates continuity in leadership rather than a total ownership turnover.
Is Your $50/Night Rate Realistic?
That rate is *extremely* low for the Florida Keys, even for a budget-style motel. A few points to consider:
- It’s possible there was a mistake, a deeply discounted sale, or an error in the booking system. Make sure your reservation is confirmed in writing (with confirmation number) before relying on it.
- If it is legitimate, your room might be a “basic” non-water-facing unit, or perhaps a “deal” requires non-refundable terms — check the cancellation policy carefully.
- Given the mixed reviews (particularly around maintenance and service), paying a very low nightly rate could make sense if you’re only staying to “crash” for one night and don’t have extremely high expectations.
Bottom Line / Recommendation
Creekside Inn is a reasonable choice for a simple, Keys-style overnight stop, especially for a road-trip or as a break on your way to/from Key West. The waterfront location, dock access, and remodeled rooms make it attractive. But it’s not a luxury resort — expect some trade-offs in service, maintenance, or night-time quiet.
If your $50/night rate is confirmed, that could be a very good deal — assuming the room booked is basic and you’re okay with modest amenities. Just double-check the reservation, and maybe call ahead to confirm room condition and what’s included (towels, dock access, etc.).
